Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City stipulates the periodic testing time for the 2025-2026 school year as follows:
- Midterm I: After the 8th week of semester I.
- End of term I: Completion date is January 3, 2026.
- Midterm II: After the 7th week of semester II.
- End of term II: Completion date is May 16, 2026.
In which, the final examination and assessment are only organized centrally and use common questions.
The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City stated: The form and structure of the test in the innovative direction (essay, multiple choice, multiple choice combined with essay, ratio of question levels...) are decided by the principal after a meeting with the professional team; ensuring assessment and classification of students according to the provisions of Circular 22 and the school's examination and assessment regulations.
Assessment of junior high school and high school students is carried out according to regulations; test and assessment plans are developed in accordance with teaching plans; no tests and assessments are conducted beyond the required requirements or required levels of the general education program; no tests and assessments are conducted on simplified content.
Regular testing and assessment are conducted in person or online through: questions and answers, writing, presentations, practice, experiments, and learning products. For a subject, each student is tested and assessed multiple times, with a number of tests and assessments chosen that are appropriate to the teaching and learning process.
Periodic assessment (not conducted for clusters of learning topics), including mid-term and final assessments, is carried out through: tests (on paper or on computer), practice tests, and learning projects.
The test time (on paper or on computer) for subjects (excluding clusters of specialized subjects) with 70 periods/school year or less is 45 minutes; for subjects with more than 70 periods/school year is from 60 minutes to 90 minutes; for specialized subjects, the maximum is 120 minutes.
The organization of periodic tests and assessments must be serious, in accordance with regulations, a unified test schedule, within the prescribed duration, with the correct content and form as required; ensuring that the test meets the correct objectives and assesses the comprehensive capacity of students. The form of testing and assessment must meet the requirements for developing students' capacity.
The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City encourages schools to build question banks and test banks. For subjects and educational activities that are evaluated by comments, periodic testing and evaluation through practical exercises and learning projects appropriate to the characteristics of the subjects and educational activities are encouraged.
Innovation in methods and forms of testing and assessment of subjects must ensure requirements of honesty, objectivity, fairness, and accurate assessment of students' learning and training results.
