With the topic "The story of a teacher from Ho Chi Minh City who came to spread knowledge in Tri An Lake", two reporters Le Thanh Nhan and Truong Duc Huy (Dong Nai Newspaper and Radio and Television) were among the faces honored at the National Press Awards Ceremony "For the cause of Vietnamese education" organized by the Ministry of Education and Training .
Sharing about the topic, Mr. Le Thanh Nhan said that last year, during a volunteer trip, he accidentally learned the story of teacher Nguyen Thi Kim Lan (teacher of Hoa Mi 3 Kindergarten), who traveled from her home in Ho Chi Minh City to the Tri An hydroelectric reservoir to teach children in difficult circumstances.
Wishing to spread this beautiful image to the public, he planned to make a television report about Ms. Lan's arduous journey of spreading letters in the lake area.
“The charity class has been published in many newspapers and radio stations, but no one has done a report about Ms. Lan’s journey. So I decided to tell the story of her journey to class from a television perspective to depict it as realistically as possible,” Mr. Nhan shared.

Although not trained in television, Mr. Nhan and cameraman Truong Duc Huy overcame many difficulties to bring a quality journalistic work. He and his colleagues chose the dry season of Tri An hydroelectric lake to make the report, because at this time the water level is low, and it is possible to travel by motorbike in the lake.
However, Mr. Nhan and cameraman Huy did not expect the trip to be much more difficult than they imagined. To get real footage of Ms. Lan's journey to the teaching location, Mr. Nhan and Mr. Huy had to ride a motorbike behind the teacher's car.
The journey to Ms. Lan’s classroom, as well as the journey of the two reporters, was extremely arduous, having to move on a road with no path, surrounded by weeds and mud. There were times when the teacher fell because she could not keep her balance.
Mr. Nhan ran to help her up and the group continued their journey. Under the dense grass at the bottom of Tri An Lake, there were still many tree stumps. When the two reporters' car passed by, the logs got stuck in the motorbike's brake pedal. "If we hadn't handled it in time, we could have broken our legs when braking. Luckily, we were both okay," Mr. Nhan said.
The two reporters, as well as teacher Lan, had to fall off their bikes many times while going to class on the 12km long road in the lake. They chose to take the risk because they understood that without experiencing it firsthand, readers would have a hard time imagining the hardships and difficulties the teacher had to face to reach the poor students in the floating village.
"Our hardships are nothing compared to what teacher Lan has brought to poor students over the past 7 years," said Mr. Nhan.

Participating in the National Press Award “For the cause of Vietnamese education ” for the first time, Mr. Nhan expressed his wish that there would be many images of teachers with a heart for the community, not afraid of difficulties and hardships, going to remote places to spread knowledge, improving the people's intelligence. That is also an image of education for the community, full of humanity, which needs to be widely communicated to spread to society.
