On January 14, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province announced that Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien had just signed a decision on assigning units to manage and operate the bridge project connecting the North Hieu River urban area with the center of Dong Ha city, under the project to develop urban areas along the Mekong sub-region (GMS) corridor.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province assigned the People's Committee of Dong Ha city to manage, operate and maintain the following items: traffic lights, traffic lighting, decorative lighting and green tree system.

The Department of Transport manages, operates and maintains all remaining items of the bridge: The main route, including the bridge with a total length of more than 315.2m, the 419m long Hoang Dieu route (from Km 1+115 - Km 1+534) and the 52.4m long Ba Trieu route (from Km 1+217 - Km 1+270).

Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee also requested the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board to direct the construction contractor to train and transfer technology for bridge health monitoring items and decorative lighting to the above units, ensuring the project is operated safely and effectively.

The project started on April 13, 2020 and was expected to be completed on June 30, 2021. However, the implementation process was delayed due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, unfavorable weather and site clearance problems... so the project was completed later than expected.
