Bac Lieu sets deadline to complete East Sea dike upgrade project within 60 days

The East Sea dike upgrade project has about 2km of land clearance remaining and is currently on hold. The Secretary of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee directed units to closely coordinate with contractors, take measures to protect construction, and complete within 60 days.

On March 24, Mr. Lu Van Hung, Secretary of Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee, inspected Ganh Hao embankment and the East Sea dike (in Dong Hai and Hoa Binh districts).

The delegation inspected the urgent project of Construction and upgrading of the East Sea dyke to combat climate change in Bac Lieu province - from Muong 1 canal to Huyen Ke canal (in Dong Hai district and Hoa Binh district).

The project has a total investment of nearly 400 billion VND, a length of nearly 14km (including bridges and culverts with a dike width of 9m and a road width of 8m.

Regarding the project site clearance, about 12km of cleared land has been handed over to the construction unit. There are still about 2km of land clearance problems, the reason is that there are 11 cases where the land has not been handed over and the construction unit has been continuously obstructed.

After the inspection, the Secretary of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee directed the investor and local authorities to closely coordinate with the contractor to have a construction protection plan, completing the entire route within 60 days, starting from today (March 24).

On the same day, the Secretary of Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee inspected the project "Erosion treatment and riverbed reinforcement in Ganh Hao town, the section adjacent to Ganh Hao Fishing Port, Ganh Hao town, Dong Hai district".

This area is undergoing site clearance work and some sections are under construction of Ganh Hao embankment (sections G4-G5).

According to the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Agricultural and Rural Development Works (project investor), this project has a total investment of more than 261 billion VND. The construction length of the embankment is more than 939m.

The total area of ​​land recovered is 27,000m2. The total number of cases affected by the project is 39 cases.

The construction process has encountered many difficulties in site clearance, leading to the progress of construction packages not being as planned. Up to now, 26/39 cases have not received money and have not handed over the site to the construction unit.

To speed up the construction progress, Mr. Lu Van Hung, Secretary of Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee, suggested that as soon as the site is cleared, the investor must urge the contractor to start construction immediately, and should not wait until 100% of the site is cleared before starting construction.
