Department of Agriculture and Environment checks to ensure dam safety during storm season

To ensure dam safety before the rainy season, on May 22, the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DARD) of Yen Bai province inspected reservoirs in Van Yen district to assess disaster prevention and control work and ensure dam safety during the rainy season. This inspection continues to be carried out at all dams in the province.

During the inspection of the current status of the reservoirs managed and exploited by Tan Phu Company, all reservoirs were found to be safe, and phenomena such as dam slope seepage were promptly and promptly resolved. The dam slopes and spillways of the reservoirs were cleared, and the regulating valves were regularly maintained to ensure normal operation of the reservoirs.

Through the actual inspection, the working group of the Department of Agriculture and Environment also pointed out some shortcomings, mainly the drainage of the downstream area of ​​the dam, requesting the Department of Irrigation, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Van Yen district, and Tan Phu Company to coordinate to handle it as soon as possible, ensuring the ability to drain floodwaters after the spillway.

At the same time, direct units managing and exploiting irrigation works to closely follow plans for natural disaster prevention, control and search and rescue; mobilize all resources to proactively and effectively respond to all possible natural disasters, in order to minimize human and property damage during this year's storm season.

Regularly monitor weather developments and management and exploitation to ensure safety of works; regularly monitor and inspect works before, during and after the rainy and flood season to promptly detect unsafe risks for timely handling; organize the implementation of marking the corridor of irrigation works according to regulations.
