Prepare enough capital for lychee production and consumption

BAC GIANG - Following the direction of the State Bank of Vietnam and the People's Committee of Bac Giang province, since the beginning of this year, commercial banks in the province have proactively provided capital for people and businesses to borrow to produce and consume lychee, including Chu town. Thereby, many households have proactively invested capital in the stages of production, harvesting, processing and expanding services to serve lychee consumption.

According to the People's Committee of Chu town, the total lychee growing area in the locality this year is more than 7.1 thousand hectares. The expected lychee output is estimated at 43 thousand tons. Of this, more than 5 thousand hectares of lychee are produced according to VietGAP standards, with an estimated output of 35 thousand tons. The quality of lychee in Chu town is increasingly improved, meeting consumer tastes. Every year, during the harvest season, the products are not only sold domestically but also exported.

To support people in producing lychees to ensure quality and convenient consumption, from the beginning of the year, commercial banks have planned to arrange capital for timely disbursement to meet people's needs.

Not only lending to households to buy fertilizers and pesticides for fabric care, commercial bank branches also disburse loans to production and business establishments that produce foam boxes and renovate drying ovens to serve consumption activities...

Agribank Chu Branch (Agribank Bac Giang II Branch) is one of the units that has done well in lending for lychee production and consumption. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huong, Director of Agribank Chu Branch said: “This year's lychee season, the unit has arranged 120 billion VND for production and consumption loans. Up to this point, Agribank Chu Branch has disbursed about 70 billion VND to 450 households in the area to borrow to take care of, produce, and trade styrofoam boxes for consumption activities. The common loan amount is from 100-500 million VND/household, many businesses and enterprises are able to borrow 9-10 billion VND/case”.

Typical examples include the following households: Mr. Ngo Van Lien, Cau Den residential group, Thanh Hai ward, borrowed 1.5 billion VND to buy fertilizer and pesticides to care for lychees; Ha Van Cuong, Kim 1 residential group, Phuong Son ward; Vi Thi Lieu, Minh Khai residential group, Chu ward, each household borrowed 9 billion VND to produce and trade styrofoam boxes to supply to people consuming lychees.

As a customer of Agribank Chu Branch for many years, Ms. Vi Thi Lieu said that thanks to the bank loan at the beginning of this year, her family proactively bought plastic beads in large quantities to produce foam boxes. In the past three months, 1.5 million foam boxes and 300,000 plastic boxes have been produced. These foam boxes and plastic boxes are sold to traders to pack lychees for consumption.

Similarly, to proactively provide loans for the lychee season, the Chu Transaction Office of Vietcombank Bac Giang and the Chu Transaction Office of Vietinbank Bac Giang each have prepared 300-400 billion VND for people to borrow. According to Mr. Vu Dinh Ha, Head of the Chu Transaction Office of Vietcombank Bac Giang, since the beginning of the year, the unit has disbursed 300/400 billion VND to 200 customers for loans during the lychee season. The lowest loan amount is 100 million VND, the highest is 8 billion VND, with a loan term of 6 months. Up to this point, the total outstanding debt of the Department has reached 2.3 trillion VND, of which loans for consumption, processing of lychees and providing ancillary services account for 30% of the total outstanding debt of the unit.

Many households, after receiving loans from the Chu Transaction Office, have had more resources to invest in lychee production and consumption. The case of Mr. Hoang Van Hiep, Thanh An residential group, Tru Huu ward is an example. Mr. Hiep said: "For many years, my family has often borrowed 4-4.6 billion VND from the bank. After the due date, I pay and borrow in rotation. From the loan capital, my family has the conditions to invest in purchasing materials, installing automatic irrigation systems to produce lychees according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards. In addition, I also process lychee wine and organize the purchase of lychees for people. Every year, from lychee production and service activities, my family's revenue reaches 5 billion VND".

According to the functional sector, this year's lychee season, commercial bank branches in the province have prepared more than 1,000 billion VND to serve production, processing and consumption, mainly lending in Chu town and Luc Ngan district. This capital has been and is being disbursed by bank branches, creating favorable conditions for businesses, traders and people to access loans. At the same time, they will arrange staff and transaction networks reasonably, prioritize interest rates, ensure smooth payment, shorten loan processing time... To promote the effectiveness of loans, immediately after disbursement, commercial bank branches will organize inspections of households' capital use and recover capital within the prescribed time.

In fact, in recent years, loans from commercial bank branches have helped people have more funds to invest in improving the quality of lychees, promoting service activities, and increasing economic efficiency.
