Soc Trang promotes sustainable tourism development

On November 8, the online conference on "Developing Soc Trang province's tourism economy " was organized by the People's Committee of Soc Trang province. The conference was held in person at the Provincial Cultural and Conference Center, combined with online to 11 districts, towns and cities, with nearly 1,000 delegates attending. organized to districts, towns and cities in the province.

The conference listened to comrade Tran Minh Ly - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism report on the current status of tourism development in Soc Trang in the past time, assess the current status and orientation of tourism development to 2030; delegates were informed about the tourism economy and suggested tourism development strategy of Soc Trang province, in which, he assessed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, challenges and vision for developing tourism in Soc Trang in the coming time.

At the conference, many presentations by representatives of the People's Committee of Soc Trang city and Cu Lao Dung district highlighted the local tourism potential; tourism companies proposed to build products and connect tours and tourism routes, opening up more opportunities for the province to continue to orient the development of key tourism products and based on the potential and strengths of the province...

At the Conference, Mr. Tran Van Lau, Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province emphasized: In the past time, in order to preserve and promote cultural values associated with tourism development, on August 2, 2016, the Provincial Party Executive Committee issued Resolution No. 05 on tourism development in Soc Trang province until 2020, with a vision to 2025, with the view that "tourism is an important economic sector of the province. Tourism development is associated with promoting the local image, culture and people of Soc Trang".

Soc Trang is a province with many potentials, strengths and unique characteristics, with many advantages to develop tourism; in particular, it has formed typical tourism products such as: Spiritual cultural tourism through a system of hundreds of communal houses and pagodas of Kinh, Khmer, and Chinese people with unique architecture and distinct characteristics, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists. The whole province currently has 8 national relics, 43 provincial relics, 8 intangible cultural heritages. In 2022, the Vietnam Guinness Organization recognized the Guinness Record "Ooc Om Boc Festival - Ngo Boat Race in Soc Trang with the largest number of Ngo boats and athletes" in Vietnam from 2005 to present....

Thanks to promoting existing strengths and potentials, Soc Trang province's tourism industry has made very positive changes in tourism. In the 10 months of 2023, the total number of tourists to the province reached 2.4 million. Total revenue from tourism reached 1,200 billion VND, exceeding the annual plan by 18%.

To promote the province's tourism industry in a sustainable, professional, modern direction and strive to make tourism an important economic sector by 2025 and a spearhead economic sector by 2030, Soc Trang will focus resources on implementing the objectives of Resolution No. 05 of the Provincial Party Committee and implementing the resolutions of the Provincial People's Council on tourism development associated with promoting administrative procedure reform and digital transformation in tourism. The province continues to promote the strengths of spiritual tourism, festival culture, and eco-tourism; enhance the stature of unique festival events of the three Kinh - Hoa - Khmer ethnic groups; diversify and improve the quality of tourism services associated with calling for investment in tourism to develop infrastructure on the basis of exploiting tourism potential and strengths.../.
