Exciting Banh Chung wrapping and tug of war contest at Thanh Mau Temple

On April 19, at the Holy Mother Temple, Xuan Lam commune organized a traditional banh chung wrapping contest and a combined men's and women's tug of war competition on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the death of Queen Pham Thi Ngoc Tran.

The traditional banh chung wrapping contest took place in the morning with 4 teams from 4 villages in the area participating (each team consisted of 8 people). In the photo: The Organizing Committee presented souvenir flags to the participating teams.

Teams will wrap and cook 150 banh chung in 6 consecutive hours.

The Chung cakes were scored by the Organizing Committee based on the following criteria: fast wrapping, beautiful wrapping, beautiful filling, flavor, decoration, presentation of the sample offering tray...

After cooking, each team will decorate a tray of cakes to offer to the Mother Goddess and present.

In the afternoon of the same day, a mixed tug-of-war tournament took place with 4 teams from villages in the area. Each team had 10 athletes (5 men, 5 women) competing in a round robin, each match consisted of 1 round (the winning team got 1 point, the losing team got 0 points). The first, second and third teams were ranked according to the points of the matches won.

The competition atmosphere was exciting and fierce with the cheers of the fans.

At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded first prize for wrapping traditional banh chung to village 3-4; second prize to village 5; third prize to village 1 and village 2...

The contest aims to promote the tradition of remembering one's roots, demonstrate the spirit of solidarity of the people in labor production, and attract visitors from all over the country to attend the 600th anniversary of the death of Queen Pham Thi Ngoc Tran at the Holy Mother Temple in Xuan Lam Commune (Nghi Xuan - Ha Tinh) on the afternoon of April 20, 2025.
