The festival took place in a vibrant atmosphere, imbued with the traditional cultural identity of the Tay and Nung people in the North, with activities such as: singing sli, playing the Tinh lute, singing then in ethnic languages, praising the Party, Uncle Ho, love for the homeland, country and couples. Besides, there were traditional folk games such as: throwing con, jumping on bamboo poles, weeding, playing soccer on stilts, playing tops..., attracting a large number of people to participate, creating a vibrant atmosphere of the festival.
Ms. Dam Thi Yen, Dong Tien commune, Dong Phu district shared: “Coming to the festival today, I feel very happy and proud to be immersed in the traditional cultural atmosphere of my people. The festival also brings full cultural identity of the ethnic groups in the countryside from culinary dishes, then singing... to folk games such as: grass-laying, throwing con, and cu fighting. I hope that these cultural beauties will be cared for and maintained every year by all levels and sectors”.
Long Tong Festival is associated with the worship of the God of Agriculture, the god who governs the harvest, symbolizing the desire for a new year of favorable weather, bountiful harvests, and a prosperous and happy family. Dong Phu district currently has a large population of Tay and Nung people. Organizing the festival not only contributes to preserving and promoting the traditional culture of ethnic minorities but also creates a meaningful playground, connecting the community in the area. This is the third year Dong Phu district has organized the Long Tong festival and this year there are many new features compared to previous years.
Mr. Le Xuan Nghi, Director of Dong Phu District Culture and Sports Center, Head of the Organizing Committee said, “Compared to previous years, this year there are some new competitions such as stilt soccer and women's grass plowing. In particular, this year the number of people attending and participating in the festival has doubled, this is a great success of the festival”.
