Concentrate on construction
In the last days of the year, the atmosphere of the sidewalk renovation and expansion of Le Loi Street (from the beginning of the street to the intersection with Le Quang Dao Street, Gia Vien Ward) is urgent. Mr. Nguyen Van Kien, in charge of a team of electric line construction on this street, said: "Every day, our team makes 30 - 40 m of cable trenches and installs 2 - 3 electrical cabinet foundations. We clean up as we go so that people can travel easily and ensure safety. This is a road with a large volume of renovation. This section of the road surface is widened by 2 m on each side, ensuring a minimum width of 12 m; the sidewalk is wider and more open, reaching a minimum of 3 m, so we are working urgently to ensure progress by the end of December must be completed according to the city's direction."
On Nguyen Binh Khiem route (from Van Cao street to Kieu Son pumping station, about 0.83 km long), despite many difficulties, construction units are rushing to implement the sites that have been handed over. Mr. Pham Van Tu, owner of a pho noodle shop on Van Cao street, said: "In recent days, I have seen the construction unit bring in machinery and human resources to peel off the sidewalk and move some underground works. It is the end of the year, I hope the unit will work quickly to have the least impact on the business and lives of the people."
To limit the impact on daily life, the renovation of sidewalks and inner-city roads is carried out in sections. The teams for removing bricks, lowering the foundation, paving sidewalks and laying underground electricity are divided into construction phases, and work is completed as needed. Mr. Luong Huu Tan, Construction Manager of Tan Loc Construction Joint Stock Company, informed: "As soon as Secretary Le Tien Chau directed to shorten the construction time of the city's central sidewalk projects, we mobilized more human resources and machinery to work in "3 shifts, 4 shifts", working at night to speed up the progress".
According to the Hai Phong Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board, along with Le Loi and Nguyen Binh Khiem streets, contractors are carrying out renovations (including undergrounding, installing power lines, installing new meter cabinets, replacing transformer stations, etc.) on 16 inner-city routes with a total length of 11.18 km. These are all central routes with high traffic volume, and many infrastructure sections are still lacking synchronization. Therefore, the units divide the construction scope of each route to ensure traffic and daily life.
Currently, all 16 routes are under underground construction, installing power transmission lines, electrical cabinet foundations, transformer stations and lighting systems. Many routes have large volumes, such as: Bach Dang (1.62 km), Hai Ba Trung (1.4 km), Luong Khanh Thien (1.2 km) and Minh Khai (0.69 km). Short routes such as Ho Xuan Huong (0.14 km), Cu Chinh Lan (0.37 km) or Tran Binh Trong (0.17 km) are constructed with compact equipment due to narrow ground. Among these, Hoang The Thien route (0.72 km) has been completely completed, being the first of the 16 routes to complete the renovation work.
Determined to exceed schedule

Road expansion, sidewalk renovation and street beautification help to increase the capacity of exploitation, improve the quality of use and ensure the safety of people. When the central routes are completed synchronously, the urban appearance will be more spacious, creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development, attracting tourism and completing the infrastructure system according to the general planning of the city.
Therefore, the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects for Traffic and Agricultural Works strives to complete the construction of Le Loi Street and renovate 16 inner-city roads in 2025. The construction and completion of Nguyen Binh Khiem Street (from Van Cao Street to Kieu Son Pumping Station) is also speeding up to exceed the set plan. This is an important requirement, requiring contractors to maintain a continuous construction pace and strengthen coordination between technical infrastructure units to avoid interruptions during the implementation process.
Pham Van Phong, Deputy General Director of the Hai Phong Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board, said: "The construction teams must closely follow each section and complete each part, avoiding the situation of waiting for the site or waiting for coordination. The electricity, trees, lighting, and drainage items are reviewed in advance to avoid digging again after paving the sidewalk. However, to complete the 2025 target, there must be smooth coordination between many related units."
To maintain the construction pace of the entire project, Gia Vien Ward People's Committee needs to quickly complete site clearance for Nguyen Binh Khiem Street, ensuring that contractors can access the site as soon as conditions permit. The Electricity Department coordinates to inventory and receive materials recovered during the process of dismantling old infrastructure; arrange power outages and connections according to progress and review transformer station locations in areas where there are still public opinions...
In localities where construction routes pass through, the consensus of the people continues to play an important role. Local authorities need to proactively inform and support households and businesses during the phase of moving technical infrastructure and re-paving the sidewalk.
Units under the Department of Construction coordinate with the Project Management Board to complete the sidewalk technical infrastructure; promptly handle blocked underground locations; organize the relocation, plant new trees and receive recovered materials from the lighting system. The arrangement of specialized vehicles on some routes also requires the support of functional forces, especially at times when traffic volume is high to ensure that progress is not interrupted...
