The striker wrote: "It's too late to say thank you but when the Asian Cup took place, I was completely focused on the matches. The journey back to London after the match was heavy and disappointing for me. However, I returned safely to Tottenham.

I think I failed to fulfill my duty as captain. I did not lead the team well. But from the bottom of my heart, I am proud to be a Korean player. You have given me such great affection. I would like to thank and apologize to everyone."

After the loss to Jordan, Son Heung Min hinted at the possibility of leaving the Korean national team. However, coach Jurgen Klinsmann denied this information. He said: "For an extraordinary player like Son Heung Min, it is understandable to be disappointed after a loss.

In particular, as a team, he was even more hurt when he could not lead the team to win the Asian Cup. However, Son Heung Min will still participate in future tournaments with the Korean team. There is no reason for me to exclude such a good player."

Coach Klinsmann received a lot of criticism right after landing at Incheon airport. Many people wanted him to resign as coach of the Korean team. In response, the German coach said: "I don't understand why the Korean media wants me to resign. I am very happy to lead the team. I really wanted to win the 2023 Asian Cup but the team did not achieve the goal.
