SOOBIN Hoang Son: Art is a journey without a stopping point

With his great efforts in the program "Anh trai vu ngan cong thorn" and his musical creativity, SOOBIN is considered to have made outstanding contributions in popularizing and preserving national cultural identity.

Recently, singer SOOBIN Hoang Son (Nguyen Huynh Son) was honored as one of the 10 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces of 2024, voted by the Central Youth Union.

The professional council evaluated the male singer as having made outstanding contributions to popularizing and preserving the national cultural identity. He performed and renewed songs such as “Trong Com” and “Chiec Khan Pieu” in the program “Anh Trai Vuon Ngan Cong Gai” which created a buzz.

On this occasion, SOOBIN Hoang Son shared with VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper his feelings when receiving this honor.

Efforts to bring Vietnamese music to the world

- How does SOOBIN feel about receiving the title "Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face" in the field of culture and arts?

Singer SOOBIN Hoang Son: I feel extremely honored and happy to receive the title "Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face." This is not only a personal pride but also a great motivation for SOOBIN to continue contributing to art and the community.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Party, the State, the audience and those who have always accompanied and supported me on this journey. This award will be a source of encouragement for SOOBIN to constantly strive, be creative and bring more quality products.

- After a series of awards that have proven recognition from experts and audiences, SOOBIN's contributions have now been highly appreciated by the Party and the State. Does this title give you a different feeling than when you stepped on stage to receive the Mai Vang Award, the Dedication Award...?

Singer SOOBIN Hoang Son: Each award has a special meaning to SOOBIN. The Mai Vang Award or the Dedication Award are both recognitions from professionals and music lovers, and both give SOOBIN more motivation to contribute more to the country's art.

The title "Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face" this time is a recognition from the Party and State for his efforts not only in music but also in inspiring the community.

- The Prime Minister has assigned the task of "Three Pioneers" to outstanding young people: Pioneer in innovative thinking, Pioneer in developing science and technology, Pioneer in nationalizing human civilization in our country and internationalizing the advanced culture, imbued with the identity of the Vietnamese people to the world. With these three tasks, which do you feel is closest to you and which you are most capable of performing, and why?

Singer SOOBIN Hoang Son: I think that my closest mission is to be a pioneer in nationalizing human civilization in our country and internationalizing advanced culture, imbued with Vietnamese national identity, to the world. Music is a language without borders, and I always want to contribute to bringing the colors of Vietnamese music closer to international friends, while bringing the quintessence of the world into Vietnamese music in a harmonious and creative way. This is also what I have been trying to do in my career.

Desire to make a mark in music

- You have been persistently pursuing art for many years and have a certain number of fans, but it can be said that it is from “Anh trai vu ngan cong gai” with explosive performances, strong messages about national culture that you have gained more audiences of all ages and many awards. What does “Anh trai vu ngan cong gai” mean in your career?

Singer SOOBIN Hoang Son: “Anh trai qua ngan cong thorn” is truly an important milestone in SOOBIN’s career. This is not just a simple music program, but also an opportunity for him to show a new color, combining modern music and national cultural values.

SOOBIN is very happy that the songs are loved by many audiences of different ages. This gives him more motivation to continue to explore, create and bring more in-depth music products in the future.

- How do you plan to develop your career after the great success of "Anh trai vu ngan cong thorn"?

Singer SOOBIN Hoang Son: The journey at “Anh trai vu ngan cong gai” has helped SOOBIN learn and develop a lot. Therefore, in the near future, I will spend time focusing on personal projects, not only to apply the skills learned through the program but also to develop my own mark.

- Is what you show at game shows and concerts a foundation, a motivation for you or a pressure because you have to overcome your own "shadow" there, to become an independent singer/songwriter?

Singer SOOBIN Hoang Son: It is definitely an important foundation and at the same time a great source of motivation for me to continue developing. Each stage, each product is a milestone in my artistic journey, helping me to mature. I do not see it as pressure but as a challenge to discover many new aspects of myself.

With the orientation of becoming an independent singer/songwriter, I hope to bring music products with a more personal touch, both close to the audience and clearly expressing my personality in music.

- Having a voice, knowing how to play musical instruments, having good looks, the ability to compose and dance, what do you think you still lack to reach the goal/image you want to build in the hearts of the audience?

Singer SOOBIN Hoang Son: I think that art is a journey without an end, there are always new things to learn and improve. I am lucky to have the opportunity to practice many skills, but there are definitely still many things to improve. I hope that each product is not only a good song but also brings experiences that touch the audience's emotions. That is what I am still trying to improve every day.
