Robots compete in marathon in China. |
This historic event not only attracted the attention of the technology world but also excited sports fans around the world, with the big question: Can machines beat humans on the harsh race track?
In a race that China hoped would showcase its robotics prowess, special “athletes” of all shapes and sizes “charged into battle” with great enthusiasm. However, the final result brought an interesting surprise.
Despite being equipped with the most advanced technology and even being allowed to change batteries and robots mid-run, the metal "athletes" still have to "breathe smoke" before the endurance and speed of humans. "Tiangong Ultra", the pride of the Beijing Robot Innovation Center, finished first among the robots with a time of 2 hours and 40 minutes.
However, this achievement is still nearly two hours away from the world record of 56 minutes and 42 seconds set by Ugandan "freak" Jacob Kiplimo. The male champion even completed the 21 km distance in just 1 hour and 2 minutes.

The world's first robot marathon has ended, with victory going to human endurance. |
The "giant" Tiangong Ultra with its long legs and special running algorithm had to go through a tough battle. Three battery changes and the close support of a runner to avoid unfortunate "falls" showed the great challenges that robot technology still faces in real environments.
However, the robots' "fighting" spirit was still a notable highlight of the event. Witnessing the machines struggling to "stretch step by step" beside them, many human athletes couldn't help but enjoy recording these unique moments.
The world's first robot marathon has come to an end, with the victory belonging to human endurance. However, this is not just a failure of the robot on the track. It is also an important step forward, a historical milestone that opens new horizons for the development of humanoid robot technology, promising even more dramatic competitions in the future.
