The mission of literature and art in the new era

PV: Could you tell us about the achievements in the development of culture and arts of the province after 50 years of national reunification?

Comrade Bui Xuan Thanh: The 50th anniversary of the country's reunification also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Vinh Phu Provincial Literature and Arts Association (1975 - 2025) - the predecessor of the Vinh Phuc Literature and Arts Association today. Over the past 50 years, Vinh Phuc Literature and Arts has developed strongly, marking the tireless efforts of the province's artists. The works and projects of literature and arts have contributed to building a solid social spiritual foundation, consolidating people's trust in the Party's leadership, promoting the proactiveness, creativity and social activism of the people in the cause of building and defending the homeland and the country.

Literature and art are closely linked to the task of socio-economic development, becoming an important content in the activities of local Party committees, authorities and organizations. Many new and valuable works of literature and art have been created, adding to the treasure of literature and art, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people, protecting and promoting national identity; at the same time, gradually perfecting the standards of cultural and human values ​​in the period of industrialization, modernization and international integration.

Along with that, Vinh Phuc Literature and Arts has actively contributed to bringing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws to all classes of people; vividly reflecting the revolutionary struggle, as well as the vibrant reality in creative labor to build and defend the Fatherland; discovering, encouraging and motivating new factors, advanced examples; promoting the patriotic emulation movement in all socio-economic fields of the province. Well performing its function as a forum for literature and arts, expressing the will, feelings and legitimate aspirations of all classes of people; actively fighting against negativity, corruption, waste; condemning social evils; fighting against slanderous and distorted arguments of hostile forces, sabotaging the revolutionary cause of our Party and people...

PV: What are the outstanding results of the Vinh Phuc Provincial Literature and Arts Association?

Comrade Bui Xuan Thanh: Vinh Phuc Literature and Arts Association has developed comprehensively, constantly innovating the content and form of activities; performing well the function of managing and organizing the province's cultural and artistic activities; truly becoming a common home, gathering members, encouraging and creating all conditions for artists to be creative, demonstrating noble civic responsibility, worthy of being soldiers on the cultural and ideological front.

Through 4 times of considering Vinh Phuc Literature and Arts Awards since the province was re-established (5 years/1 time), the Provincial Literature and Arts Association has had 198 authors winning awards, including 18 A prizes, 49 B prizes, 58 C prizes, and 73 Encouragement prizes.

In the past 10 years, each year the province has had 19-25 works of artists winning literary and artistic awards at regional, national and international festivals, exhibitions and competitions. Notably, there are authors who have set a Guinness record for the number of works winning international awards; many “long-term” genres such as novels, epics, feature films, choirs, monuments, etc. have been composed and promoted.

Among the award-winning works, the association has collected and published many systematic anthologies such as: Vinh Phuc Prose, Vinh Phuc Novels, Vinh Phuc Poetry, Vinh Phuc Fine Arts, Vinh Phuc Photography, Vinh Phuc Music, Modern Vinh Phuc Writers, Anthology of award-winning literary and artistic works...

In addition, Vinh Phuc Literature and Arts Magazine always closely follows the political tasks of the province, conveying the literary and artistic works of members and collaborators inside and outside the province, creating a vivid picture in propaganda, encouraging all classes of people to enthusiastically compete to build and protect their homeland and country. At the same time, it introduces and promotes the image of the land and people of Vinh Phuc and the province's literary and artistic creation movement to the whole country.

PV: The country has entered a new era - the era of national development. What orientations does the Provincial Literature and Arts Association have to continue promoting the role and mission of literature and arts, creating a spiritual foundation and driving force for sustainable development?

Comrade Bui Xuan Thanh: Literature and art are not simply aesthetic creative activities, participating in building a new system of cultural values, but also a great spiritual force, playing a leading role, orienting and promoting the comprehensive development of the country and the Vietnamese people. In the context of the "Era of Rising" of the nation, literature and art have an extremely important and profound mission, which is to inspire and aspire to rise in each person.

From the great expectation of developing culture and arts in a professional and modern direction while still ensuring the preservation of national cultural identity, the important issue is to open up the flow of creativity and orient aesthetic values ​​through specific actions.

The Provincial Literature and Arts Association continues to consolidate and develop the association's organization, strengthen solidarity among artists; foster and improve political awareness, creativity, expertise and sense of civic responsibility of artists to produce many high-quality works with good content and artistic value, deeply reflecting the reality of social life, aiming at the values ​​of truth - goodness - beauty, humanistic values, rich in national identity.

At the same time, seek the attention of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; research and propose to the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee to issue mechanisms to encourage and motivate artists to create to serve the development of the province...
