Pepper prices today in some key growing areas remain high compared to yesterday. As a result, the domestic pepper price level is from 153,000 VND/kg to 155,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands region, pepper prices today in Dak Lak remained unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 155,000 VND/kg.

Pepper price today in Gia Lai is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 153,000 VND/kg.

Pepper price today in Dak Nong is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 155,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, pepper prices today in Ba Ria - Vung Tau are currently at 153,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday. Dong Nai is unchanged from yesterday at 153,000 VND/kg.

In addition, pepper price today in Binh Phuoc is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 153,000 VND/kg.

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of pepper of all types traded in the international market on May 8 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices decreased slightly compared to yesterday at USD 7,323/ton (down 0.2%). In addition, Muntok white pepper prices also decreased slightly compared to yesterday at USD 9,918/ton (down 0.21%).

Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,800/mt.

Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,200/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price remained stable from yesterday at $11,900/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of 500 gr/l black pepper in Vietnam reached 6,700 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,800 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,700/ton.

According to experts, the domestic pepper market is currently quite stable with high prices, reflecting the balance of supply and demand. In the near future, pepper prices are forecast to remain stable, but may still be affected by fluctuations in world prices and weather conditions in major producing countries.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), Vietnam imported 5,688 tons of pepper last month, of which 5,209 tons were black pepper and 479 tons were white pepper, with a total value of 36.7 million USD. Compared to the previous month, the import volume increased by 15.1% and the value increased by 27.2%.

This month's import volume is close to the record level recorded in May 2021, when Vietnam imported 5,747 tons of pepper - the highest level ever.

In terms of supply, Brazil remained the main supplier to Vietnam, accounting for more than 66% of total imports with 3,792 tons, up nearly 24% over the previous month. Cambodia came in second, supplying 1,171 tons and posting a surge of 127.8%.

Among enterprises, Olam was the largest importer in the month, with an output of 2,148 tons, up 46.2% compared to March and accounting for nearly 38% of the country's total pepper import market share.
