Mission of developing science and technology

With the first international science and technology award initiated by Vietnamese people called VinFuture Foundation, we are seeing that honoring the values ​​of science and technology is no longer the sole responsibility of the State. In other words, promoting science and technology research has become a shared responsibility of the State and the private sector. It is a convergence of vision and mission.

Our Party and State have always paid attention to science and technology and the team of intellectuals researching science and technology. Resolution 45 dated November 24, 2023 of the Central Committee (13th tenure) affirmed: The team of intellectuals is "a special resource in the development of the knowledge economy, industrialization, modernization, international integration and the development of an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity"; "Building a strong and comprehensive team of intellectuals is an investment in building and nurturing the national spirit; and sustainable development; is the responsibility of the Party, the State, the political system and society".

Resolution 57 dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo (13th tenure) also identified the development of science and technology, innovation (ST) and national digital transformation as the top important breakthrough, the main driving force to rapidly develop modern productive forces, perfect production relations, innovate national governance methods, develop the socio -economy, prevent the risk of falling behind, and bring the country to breakthrough development and prosperity in the new era.

In the context of globalization today, the unprecedented strong development of science and technology associated with the Fourth Industrial Revolution has been requiring our country to grasp and approach new technologies, master new trends and situations. This is a very heavy requirement and challenge for Vietnamese science and technology intellectuals, to turn science and technology into an important production force, increase the value of competitive products in the international market, and contribute to the country's double-digit growth in the coming years.

At a meeting of intellectuals and scientists nationwide at the end of 2024, General Secretary To Lam affirmed: "Only science and technology and innovation are the ways to help us catch up, progress together, break through and surpass ourselves and the world."

The country's achievements after 40 years of renovation have especially important contributions from intellectuals and scientists. Resolution 57 has been creating new inspiration and dynamism for the creativity of intellectuals and scientists. After this Resolution, the draft Law on Science, Technology and Innovation has been and is being completed, expected to be a legal corridor to promote creativity.
