The series of events kicked off with the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Non La Festival 2025 at the Trang An welcome gate, Hoa Lu city. The image of the map of Vietnam made from thousands of conical hats and a special cavalry performance left a strong impression on locals and tourists.
Ms. Lee Ji-hyun, a tourist from Korea, expressed her excitement: I am very impressed with the image of the map of Vietnam created from conical hats. This is a very creative idea and clearly shows the unique culture of Vietnam. Traditional performances such as Xam singing and drum performances are also very unique and attractive. I also really enjoy playing your folk games. The festival has given me a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture and the friendly and hospitable people of Ninh Binh .
Continuing the traditional cultural source, on May 2, at Tam Coc - Bich Dong Tourist Area, Ninh Binh opened the "Ninh Binh Traditional Craft Village Exhibition Space". This is a meaningful initiative of the Department of Tourism to honor, preserve and promote the value of famous handicraft villages such as Van Lam embroidery, Kim Son sedge weaving, Bo Bat pottery, silk... With 5 art spaces designed delicately, visitors can not only admire unique products but also have the opportunity to directly experience the production process with artisans. This activity brings a new form of experiential tourism, combining sightseeing, learning about culture and shopping, while creating conditions for artisans to promote products and develop traditional crafts.
The fashion art program “Heritage for Life” taking place in the evening of the same day further increased the attraction of this space, when collections inspired by Ninh Binh culture and nature were performed by famous artists, combined with music and the participation of artisans from the craft village.
Mr. Tran Van Nam, a young tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, excitedly shared his experience at the “Ninh Binh Traditional Craft Village Exhibition Space”: This is the first time I have seen artisans making such sophisticated handicrafts. Being able to try my hand at the steps of silk spinning, weaving, embroidery or sedge weaving is really interesting and helps me appreciate traditional values more. The exhibition space is beautifully designed, harmoniously combining traditional and modern elements. I bought some unique souvenirs from the craft villages and will definitely recommend this place to my friends.
Not only stopping at recreating and honoring traditional cultural values, visitors to Ninh Binh on this occasion can also enjoy "Hoa Lu Brocade" (Ancient costume show), Hoa Lu Vu Hoa (A live performance recreating the quintessence of traditional craft villages), and Luu Giang Dyeing (A show on Tam Coc wharf with famous artists). In addition, there are meaningful sports activities such as the "Running to the Village" competition, off-road racing, along with other diverse cultural and natural experiences such as participating in folk games, releasing flower lanterns, planting trees and cycling parades...
Mr. Mark Olsen, a tourist from the US, shared after participating in the "Run to the Village" Race: This is a very meaningful sporting event that combines physical training and exploring the natural and cultural beauty of Ninh Binh. The route runs through lush green rice fields and beautiful historical sites. I feel the enthusiasm and friendliness of the local people. I will definitely return to Ninh Binh in the future to discover more interesting things.
The genuine and emotional sharing of tourists has shown the strong attraction and success of cultural and sports events in creating rich and memorable tourism experiences in Ninh Binh during the recent April 30 holiday.
The harmonious combination of traditional cultural events and modern sports activities has created a special attraction for Ninh Binh tourism during this holiday. Tourists not only immerse themselves in a cultural space rich in identity but also have the opportunity to participate in physical activities, exploring the beautiful nature of the ancient capital. These events are not only simple tourist activities but also a bridge for cultural heritage to penetrate deeply into contemporary life, arousing pride and awareness of preserving traditional values of the nation.
With thorough investment and creative ideas, Ninh Binh has demonstrated its great potential in developing cultural tourism. The events taking place during the April 30 and May 1 holidays in 2025 not only attract a large number of tourists but also contribute to enhancing the position of Ninh Binh on the domestic and international tourism map.
This is a positive signal showing the right direction of the province in turning cultural heritage into a resource for sustainable economic development, while contributing to preserving and spreading the unique cultural values of Vietnam. Certainly, with continuous efforts, Ninh Binh will continue to be an attractive destination, bringing rich and memorable travel experiences to visitors in the coming years.
