With its unique potential and advantages, the Southern Phu Yen Economic Zone (EZ) is identified as one of the eight key coastal EZs in the country, with a favorable location and natural conditions to become an important industrial and seaport center of the South Central Coast and Central Highlands. According to the Project on adjusting the general planning for construction of Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone until 2040 approved and announced by the Prime Minister , Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone has an area of 20,730 hectares; there are 8 industrial parks (IPs) with a total area of 3,206 hectares, of which 2 IPs have been put into operation with an area of 174.68 hectares (Hoa Hiep 1 IP, Hoa Hiep 2 IP), 6 IPs have not been invested in construction.

 

In addition, in the province, there are 3 industrial parks located outside Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone that have come into operation with a total area of 256 hectares, including: An Phu Industrial Park, Dong Bac Song Cau Industrial Park - Area 1 and Dong Bac Song Cau Industrial Park - Area 2.

 

According to information from the Phu Yen Economic Zone Management Board, the technical infrastructure in the operating industrial zones has been basically completed, operated stably, and met the needs of investors.

 

These industrial parks have centralized wastewater treatment plants and automatic wastewater monitoring systems. Infrastructure works such as traffic systems, lighting, rainwater collection and treatment, wastewater, and trees are all fully and synchronously invested; and are regularly managed and maintained.

 

Phu Yen Economic Zone Management Board is also focusing resources to invest in key traffic projects, in the immediate future, prioritizing investment in important external traffic routes, central urban areas, synchronous investment in infrastructure of resettlement areas, gradually meeting the needs of investors.

 

Regarding investment attraction in Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone, according to Mr. Phan Ngoc Thanh, Deputy Head of Phu Yen Economic Zone Management Board, in 2023, the unit granted investment policy for the project of Factory producing prefabricated house installation modules and interior decoration belonging to Modun Home Central High-Tech Co., Ltd., with a registered land area of ^6,506m2 , registered capital of more than 20 billion VND (at Hoa Hiep 1 Industrial Park); adjusted 9 projects; advised the Provincial People's Committee to approve the investment policy of 1 project, adjusted 4 projects...

 

Thus, by the end of 2023, Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone and industrial parks have attracted 118 investment projects (101 projects with domestic investment capital, 17 projects with foreign investment capital) with a registered land area of 378 hectares, registered investment capital of VND 9,285 billion and over 38 million USD.

 

With its advantages, Phu Yen is promoting its potential and strengths to attract large-scale, dynamic projects, creating a breakthrough for the province's economy .

 

And currently, Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone has many investors proposing to implement projects with the expectation of accompanying the province to develop strongly in the fields of industry, services, trade, tourism... Investors also believe that Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone is located in the coastal area, with full advantages to develop marine economic sectors.

 

At the announcement ceremony of the Project to adjust the general planning for the construction of Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone, a representative of Hoa Phat Group Joint Stock Company said that Phu Yen is a province with many development advantages, especially in Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone. This is considered a key area of the province with potential for economic development.

 

After reviewing the actual conditions, this investor is very interested and has high expectations to invest in Phu Yen. This unit has also proposed to the province investment projects in the South Phu Yen Economic Zone, including: Hoa Tam Industrial Park Infrastructure Business Project; Bai Goc Port Project; Hoa Phat Iron and Steel Complex Project (in Hoa Tam Industrial Park) and the Commercial - Service Area Project.

According to the Phu Yen Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the province will focus on economic development based on its advantages and potentials with three pillars: Industry (metallurgy, petrochemical refining, energy, etc.) is formed and developed in the south, with the core being the Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone with the advantage of Bai Goc port; High-quality service tourism is built and developed in the northern coastal region and the highland mountainous region with famous landscapes such as Xuan Dai Bay, Ganh Da Dia, O Loan Lagoon, Van Hoa plateau, etc. and High-tech agriculture in the western plains of the province. In particular, the Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone will be the heart and driving force to promote the socio-economic development of the province.

 

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung, Head of Phu Yen Economic Zone Management Board, said: The goal of building Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone by 2040 is to become a multi-sector, multi-field maritime economic zone with a focus on high-tech industry, industries associated with seaports, etc. In addition, this area will also be one of the important hubs for transportation, trade and international exchange in the region. This will be a comprehensive economic zone with modern infrastructure as a driving force for the development of the South Central Coast region.

 

Commenting on the role of Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone, according to Ms. Tran Thu Hang, Director of the Department of Architectural Planning (Ministry of Construction), the development of Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone is not only significant for the locality but also for the Central region, the Central Highlands and the whole country.

 

In addition, the South Phu Yen Economic Zone is also adjacent to the North Khanh Hoa Economic Zone (Van Phong Economic Zone), which will support each other to form the Van Phong - Vung Ro port cluster, one of the main gateways to the East Sea of the Central Highlands. The locality needs to strengthen regional linkages to effectively promote the potential and advantages of each region and coastal localities.
