According to Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, with the role of economic - industrial and logistics center of the Southern region, Ho Chi Minh City needs to shift from the "geographic aggregation" development model to the value chain integration model according to the center - satellite structure. This is the foundation for forming a new production pole: "Smart, green and deeply integrated into the global supply chain".
The new context after the merger of two key industrial localities, Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, requires the expanded Ho Chi Minh City to reposition its development strategy, effectively exploit its economic scale, population, GRDP and the system of industrial parks, export processing zones and industrial clusters.

Delegates said that, besides advantages such as international logistics infrastructure, advanced production technology platform, high-quality human resources and domestic market potential, there are still challenges in regional linkage institutions, technical infrastructure and development resources.
