Young people spread traditional culture on digital technology platforms

VHO - In the digital age, many young people have been creating ways to spread traditional cultural values on online platforms. Typical examples are Ms. Nguyen Thuy Bao Tran and Mr. Tran Hung Loc (HCMC) - two of the faces honored at the "October 15" Award in 2025 with initiatives to digitize historical values, helping national culture get closer to young people.

For Ms. Nguyen Thuy Bao Tran - Secretary of the Youth Union of Binh Loi Trung Ward (HCMC), spreading cultural and historical values to young people is an important task in the work of the Association and the youth movement in the unit.

From her concerns about propaganda and dissemination of models and solutions related to culture for young people, recently, she and local Association officials have implemented many initiatives to apply digital transformation in education and propaganda work.

Since 2023, she and the Association's staff have built a "Digital map of historical and cultural relics and red addresses in Binh Thanh district", integrating data from more than 10 historical sites. Appearing on the "Binh Thanh Youth" page with a bilingual English-Vietnamese version, the map helps young people, residents and tourists easily look up and visit online.

“Digital transformation is not only about applying technology, but also about applying creative thinking and doing it with all your heart to spread to the community” – Bao Tran shared.

Before starting the implementation, she spent a lot of time consulting many previous models that had been applied in a number of units in Ho Chi Minh City such as the digital map of volunteer activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union or similar digital data models of a number of other Youth Union - Association establishments. From observing previous initiatives, she and the Association's staff selected, summarized and adjusted to form a solution suitable for their locality.

Sharing about the difficulties in completing the project, she said the biggest obstacle lies in the stage of collecting documents and data to ensure accuracy before digitizing. Although there are still official sources of documents, the quantity is quite limited.

Therefore, the unit must mobilize a team of specialized personnel to look up, compare and directly contact relevant agencies and units to verify information about historical and cultural relics in the area.

According to Ms. Bao Tran, only when the data is fully verified will the digital product truly have value to convey. Despite facing a lot of pressure, she affirmed that she never had any intention of stopping.

Sharing the project's message, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Bao Tran said: "I and the project implementers hope that each youth member will always be a pioneer in digital transformation. In addition, we will preserve, promote and introduce cultural and historical relics in the area to educate youth members about tradition and culture."

Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space online on Artsteps platform

If Ms. Bao Tran's project is a journey to digitize local landmarks, the initiative of Mr. Tran Hung Loc - Deputy Secretary of the Phu Thuan Ward Youth Union (HCMC) opens a historical space on an online platform, combining 3D technology to bring viewers to experience culture and history in a vivid way.

In 2022, Mr. Loc launched the initiative "Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space Online" on the Artsteps platform - a platform that allows the creation of virtual exhibition spaces and museums, where users can move and explore visual content.

The digital space is divided into four areas: area 1 displays infographics about the life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh; area 2 introduces documents and artifacts on the theme "The Man in Search of the Country's Shape" from 1890 to 1969; area 3 displays Uncle Ho's literary works; area 4 includes images and documents about the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union performing its tasks, combined with images and documents about Uncle Ho spread along the corridor.

Images and infographics are integrated with detailed explanatory information, along with illustrative videos, making the experience more intuitive and vivid.

This initiative not only preserves and spreads cultural values and Ho Chi Minh's ideology to union members, youth and the community, but also demonstrates innovation and creativity in applying digital technology to education and propaganda work.

This is a clear step in bringing culture and history closer to the young generation, while affirming the pioneering role of youth union members in applying modern technology to connect the past with the present.

In addition, Mr. Tran Hung Loc also has many digital transformation initiatives such as: Youth digital newsletter, One-touch neighborhood information lookup, bringing many practical effects to people in Phu Nhuan ward and district.

The “October 15” Awards Ceremony 2025 recently held in Hanoi is not only an occasion to honor outstanding individuals in the Association’s work and youth movements, but also a testament to the creativity and pioneering spirit of Vietnamese youth in applying digital technology to preserve and spread culture.

Initiatives like those of Ms. Nguyen Thuy Bao Tran and Mr. Tran Hung Loc have opened up new directions, helping the young generation approach, experience and appreciate the historical and cultural values of the nation in a visual and vivid way. This is also a positive signal, encouraging youth union organizations and members to constantly innovate and create, contributing to building a society that is both modern and preserves cultural identity.
