Previously, on May 13, while completing exit procedures for a family of 4 Taiwanese (Chinese) passengers from Phu Quoc to Kaohsiung, officers from the Immigration Control Team of the Phu Quoc International Airport Police received the passports and documents of the passengers and requested to divide the passports of each person, including children. However, the passengers did not want to cooperate and had an inappropriate attitude, so in a moment of anger, lack of self-control, and language barriers (the passengers used Chinese, the control officers used English), they thought the passengers were yelling and insulting them, so the immigration control officers returned the passports and tore up a boarding pass of one passenger.
Upon discovering the incident, the leaders of Phu Quoc Border Police assigned another officer to assist the passengers in reprinting their boarding passes and providing instructions on how to complete exit procedures in accordance with regulations. At the same time, the leaders of the Immigration Department, Ministry of Public Security, issued a decision to temporarily suspend the officers involved in the exit procedures on May 13 at Phu Quoc International Airport Border Police to review their responsibilities and handle the individuals involved according to the regulations of the Public Security sector.
