On the afternoon of June 4, Deputy Director of the Department of Food Safety ( Ministry of Health ) Nguyen Minh Hang signed an official dispatch requesting the Department of Health of Phu Yen province to investigate and handle a suspected food poisoning case that occurred at a restaurant in the area.
According to the Food Safety Department, the unit received information about a suspected food poisoning case that occurred after eating a buffet at a restaurant in Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen Province, causing 7 people to be hospitalized with symptoms of stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea.
The Food Safety Department requested the Department of Health to urgently direct hospitals with patients being treated to focus resources on actively treating food poisoning patients, not to affect their health and lives.

Organize investigation and trace the origin of food to clearly identify the source of raw materials and food suspected of causing poisoning; take food samples and specimens for testing to find the cause.
Temporarily suspend the operation of meal processing facilities suspected of causing food poisoning; investigate and strictly handle violations of food safety regulations (if any), and publicize the results to promptly warn the community.
The Food Safety Department requested the Department of Health to strengthen propaganda and guidance for food service establishments to ensure food safety conditions, strictly control the origin and source of food ingredients, ensure hygiene throughout the process of food preparation, processing, transportation, three-step food inspection, and food sample storage.
Educate people on food selection as well as food processing service establishments serving crowded events.
According to the information, on the evening of June 2, a group of 10 people in Dong Hoa town (Phu Yen) ate a snail buffet at a restaurant in Ward 7, Tuy Hoa city. Afterwards, 7 people had symptoms of abdominal cramps, vomiting and acute diarrhea. Of the 7 people hospitalized, 6 were from the same family. The remaining people did not eat so they did not have symptoms.
The group's snail buffet included several snail dishes, seafood hotpot, raw oysters... The next day (June 3), all 7 people had to be hospitalized at Dong Hoa Town Medical Center. The patients were treated with antibiotics and IV fluids, and their health is currently stable.
