On October 9, RT reported that the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian attack helicopters attacked military positions of Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region, and released a video recording the attack.
On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian Ka-52M attack helicopters carried out attacks on Ukrainian soldiers and armored vehicles in the Kursk region.
Officials said “all targets were destroyed” but did not provide an exact number of targets struck by Ukrainian forces.
A clip shared by the Russian Defense Ministry shows two helicopters flying at low altitude and firing several small rockets towards Ukrainian forces.

As the most modern attack helicopter in the Ka-52 series, the Ka-52M was only delivered to the Russian Air Force in early 2023.
The Ka-52M helicopter is an upgrade based on the basic version of the Ka-52 "crocodile" helicopter. The Ka-52M is equipped with a new generation OES-52 electro-optical aiming system and a new generation V006 Rezets active electronically scanned array radar.
These enable the Ka-52M to detect groups of tanks from 45km away or fighter jets with a radar reflection area of 3m2 from a distance of up to 50km and helicopters from a distance of 20km.
In addition, the Ka-52M's weapons are also more diverse, including Ataka missiles (range 4 - 6km), Vikhr (8km), Vikhr-M (10km), LMUR (15km) and Izdeliye 305 cruise missiles (25km).
In early August, Ukraine launched its largest-ever offensive into Russia’s Kursk region. The offensive reportedly involved some of the best units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, equipped with Western-supplied armored vehicles.
Although Kiev initially made some progress, Moscow said the offensive had stalled as Russian forces increasingly used drones, artillery and precision missiles to attack Ukrainian targets. The Russian Defense Ministry estimates that Ukraine has lost more than 11,800 servicemen and more than 800 armored vehicles since the offensive began.
