Strengthening cooperation between Vietnam National University, Hanoi and leading universities of the Russian Federation

NDO - During the working visit between Hanoi National University and leading universities of the Russian Federation, leaders of both sides are expected to discuss the proposal to establish a strategic alliance between leading universities of Vietnam and the Russian Federation; and to establish and operate an Artificial Intelligence Center jointly developed by experts from Vietnam and Russia.

Proposal to establish strategic alliance between universities

Accompanying General Secretary To Lam's official visit to the Russian Federation, Director of Hanoi National University Le Quan and the delegation have a program to visit and work with leadingeducational institutions of the Russian Federation to strengthen cooperation in training and research.

With a long history of educational and research cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, Vietnam National University, Hanoi not only inherits but also proactively develops sustainable, modern and multi-dimensional cooperation models. On the basis of the good friendship between the two countries, Vietnam National University, Hanoi has established cooperative relations with many leading universities and research institutes in Russia such as: Lomonosov Moscow State University, Saint Petersburg State University, Moscow Friendship University, Russian Federal University of Hydrometeorology, Moscow Power Engineering University, Far Eastern Federal University... in the fields of training high-quality human resources, cooperation in scientific and technological research, and exchange of staff, lecturers and students.

According to information from Vietnam National University, Hanoi, during his working trip to the Russian Federation, Director Le Quan and the Vietnam National University, Hanoi delegation met, worked and discussed the potential for cooperation with leading educational institutions in Russia: Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO), Russian Academy of Public Administration and National Economy under the President of the Russian Federation (RANEPA), National Research University - Higher School of Economics (HSE) and Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography (MIIGAiK).

Leaders of Hanoi National University met and worked with Moscow Power Engineering University to discuss cooperation in the fields of energy, electricity, and nuclear power; developing a Russian language training center specializing in engineering, energy, and nuclear power; developing short-term and long-term training programs with degrees/certificates.

During the scheduled working session with the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) on May 12, the two sides will discuss ways to promote cooperation activities within the framework of the signed cooperation agreement. Leaders of the two universities will attend the opening ceremony of the MGIMO – Vietnam National University, Hanoi Online Education Week.

On the same day, the delegation of Hanoi National University will also work with the HSE to discuss priority areas and implementation plans for the joint scientific research institute between the two sides. At the same time, Hanoi National University and HSE will also discuss the possibility of co-organizing short-term training programs, summer courses and joint research projects; implementing exchange programs for lecturers, students and staff.

Proposal to establish a strategic alliance between leading universities of Vietnam and the Russian Federation: including Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Lomonosov Moscow State University and Saint Petersburg State University.

During the visit to Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) scheduled for May 13, the leaders of Vietnam National University, Hanoi hope to further promote bilateral cooperation between the two universities in the fields of education, science and technology, medical research, etc.

At the same time, the two sides will also discuss the proposal to establish a strategic alliance between leading universities of Vietnam and the Russian Federation, including Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Lomonosov Moscow State University and Saint Petersburg State University.

The alliance was established to enhance coordination in training, research and mutual support between key universities of the two countries, while expanding the potential for sustainable multilateral cooperation in the fields of higher education and innovation.

Focus on cooperation in strategic and high-tech fields

In the coming time, Hanoi National University said it will continue to expand and diversify forms of cooperation with the Russian Federation, focusing on strategic and high-tech fields. Completing and implementing joint research programs with leading Russian universities is an important priority. Fields such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, aviation engineering, biotechnology and environmental resource management need to be promoted to create applied scientific products that bring great economic and social value.

More cultural exchange programs, academic exchanges, short-term training programs in Russia will be implemented, and scholarship opportunities for Vietnamese students will be expanded through Russian language Olympic competitions.

VNU will also continue to coordinate cultural and academic exchange activities to promote understanding and connection between the two sides. At the same time, VNU will strengthen coordination with the Russian Embassy in Vietnam and partners in the Russian Federation to implement more short-term training programs in Russia, while expanding scholarship opportunities for Vietnamese students through Russian language Olympic competitions. "This will not only improve the quality of human resources but also attract more Vietnamese students to study at Russian universities," said a representative of VNU.

The establishment and operation of an Artificial Intelligence Center jointly developed by experts from Vietnam and Russia will be prioritized. This center can become a highlight in technological cooperation between the two countries, contributing to solving practical challenges such as natural disaster monitoring, AI applications in smart agriculture and sustainable development. Thereby, VNU-Hanoi not only affirms its pioneering role in educational and scientific cooperation with Russia but also makes practical contributions to enhancing Vietnam's position on the global science and technology map.
