The Inspection Team of the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City checks electrical safety at an electric pole in Binh Thuy market.
From the beginning of 2025 to now, the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City has established an Inspection Team, organized 6 inspections of transformer stations and 110kV, 220kV and 22kV lines managed and operated by the Can Tho Power Transmission Team and Can Tho City Electricity Company. The Team inspected the actual 110kV Long Hoa - Can Tho lines; inspected the operation of the 220kV Thot Not transformer station and surveyed many traffic works and highways under construction near or within the power grid safety corridor. In particular, the Team inspected the intersections between the 220kV Rach Gia - O Mon 2 line, 220kV Thot Not - Rach Gia line and the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway. Thereby, the Inspection Team requested the construction units to keep a minimum safe distance from the conductors to the equipment and vehicles under work; Install full warning signs and electrical safety instructions for people and vehicles in construction areas...
Along with that, the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City also organized many surprise inspections to promptly detect and handle constructions that violate the power grid safety corridor; requesting power grid management and operation units to strengthen measures to ensure electrical safety at power lines, transformer stations and important loads, serving the stable electricity demand for production, business and people's lives in the city.
Faced with the situation of high tides and heavy rains causing local flooding, the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City advised the City People's Committee to issue Official Dispatch No. 1983/UBND-KT dated October 24, 2025 on strengthening electrical safety during the stormy and flooded season. At the same time, it issued a document requesting agencies and units to deploy electrical safety during the stormy and flooded season. At the same time, the Department also coordinated with Can Tho City Electricity Company and the People's Committees of wards to inspect and review the electrical system on roads, parks, playgrounds, schools and residential areas that are often flooded in Ninh Kieu, Cai Khe, Binh Thuy, Phu Loi and Nga Bay wards. Through the inspection, the Delegation requested the power system management units to promptly handle locations with potential risks of electrical leakage, equipment damage or electrical insecurity due to heavy rain and high tides, in order to minimize possible electrical incidents and protect people's lives and property. Mr. Trieu Thanh Van, Vice Principal of Binh Thuy Primary School, said: During the recent high tide, most of the school's classrooms and electrical systems were guaranteed to be safe. In addition, the school also requested the power company to support and promptly upgrade the power lines in front of the school gate to help ensure electrical safety...
Since the beginning of the year, the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City has coordinated with Can Tho City Electricity Company and related units to strengthen propaganda, inspection, and guidance for people to properly implement regulations on electrical safety and promptly overcome unsafe cases; coordinated with Can Tho Power Transmission Team and Can Tho City Electricity Company to promote propaganda on protecting the safety corridor of high-voltage power grids in many forms, such as distributing leaflets, providing direct guidance at residential areas near high-voltage power grids, and disseminating legal regulations on protecting the safety corridor of high-voltage power grids. Thereby, helping people identify electrical safety risks as well as skills to prevent electrical accidents and prohibited behaviors when constructing works near high-voltage lines... Thanks to the synchronous implementation of many solutions, from the beginning of 2025 until now, the city has not had any serious violations of the high-voltage grid safety corridor, ensuring stable and safe electricity supply to serve socio- economic development and people's lives.
From now until the end of 2025, the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City will continue to implement Official Dispatch No. 1983/UBND-KT dated October 24, 2025 and Official Dispatch No. 2295/UBND-KT dated November 11, 2025 of the City People's Committee on implementing proactive solutions to respond, support, and overcome the consequences of high tides combined with storms, along with Plan No. 673/KH-SCT dated March 14, 2025 on propaganda work on electrical safety and energy saving. At the same time, coordinate with Can Tho City Electricity Company, People's Committees of communes, wards and related units to organize inspections and ensure electrical safety in the city. Request management and operation units to continue to strengthen inspections and ensure the safety of high-voltage power grid projects in the area; Coordinate with local authorities to regularly monitor and promptly detect cases of housing construction, site leveling... that are at risk of violating the power grid safety corridor to take timely measures. In addition, continue to propagate to people and organizations, construction units in areas where power lines pass through, to strictly comply with legal regulations on protecting the high-voltage power grid safety corridor, in order to minimize the risk of incidents, ensure the power system is operated safely, providing stable and continuous power supply to serve the production and business needs and people's lives.
