On December 10, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province held a conference to summarize the cooperation program for tourism development between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta (MD) in 2023. This is an activity within the framework of the "Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and Mekong Delta OCOP Product Connection Forum 2023".

At the conference, representatives of leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, experts, and travel businesses exchanged and discussed solutions to promote cooperation in tourism development in 2024 with the goal of developing tourism in Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta to become stronger and more effective.
Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said that the cooperation program for tourism development between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta is the first cooperation program on tourism implemented on a large scale and with diverse cooperation space with 5 contents.
Specifically, state management of tourism; tourism product development; tourism promotion and advertising; tourism human resource training; tourism investment promotion.

"In 2023, the provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta hosted 7 tourism survey programs (Famtrip), connecting tourism and travel businesses of Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities with tourism service providers in Long An, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Dong Thap, Soc Trang, Vinh Long, Tien Giang, An Giang, Bac Lieu , Ca Mau with about 600 tourism and travel businesses participating in the connection.
At the same time, organize many spaces to display, introduce and promote tourism products, tourism programs, local specialties associated with tourism, activities to connect and promote tourism, and promote regional connectivity," Mr. Hoa informed.
According to Mr. Hoa, the program of tourism development cooperation and association between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces in the Mekong Delta has promoted the role of Ho Chi Minh City as a convenient gateway, adjacent to provinces and cities in the region; creating momentum for socio-economic development of the region.
Reporting on the results of the business's implementation of the contents of tourism development cooperation between Saigontourist and 13 provinces in the Mekong Delta in 2023, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet, Director of the Southwest region, Saigontourist Travel Service Company shared that the survey points are still quite new, the traffic infrastructure is still limited, the service infrastructure is still lacking, the human resources and some service points are not synchronized so they cannot be exploited immediately; information about tourist destinations is still quite limited.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet proposed: "More time is needed to invest, perfect and create skills; localities in the Mekong Delta region need to provide more images, information, services for reference, research and evaluation, and need a strong enough stimulus price policy to attract tourists."
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Minh Luan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, said that in recent times, the coordination in implementing tourism development cooperation contents between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces of the Mekong Delta has been promoted with many creative activities, promoting regional tourism with many changes, attracting the active participation of the business community, tourism associations and creating different values of the domestic and international tourism market.
"Ca Mau province has focused on strengthening state management, planning management and investment in the tourism sector, especially paying attention to promoting and developing tourism products and connecting tourism, with the highlight being the program "Ca Mau Destination 2023" with a series of rich and attractive activities.
With close cohesion and synchronous implementation among provinces, along with the initiative, creativity and perseverance of tourism management agencies and tourism businesses, tourism in the Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City will develop strongly and more effectively," Mr. Luan emphasized.
