Riverside - Every year at the end of the year, this city not only lights up, but almost lights up the Southern California night sky. The Festival of Lights at the historic Mission Inn has become one of the largest light festival events in the United States.

At the Festival of Lights at the historic Mission Inn, this 100-year-old national heritage building was lit up again, officially kicking off the year-end holiday season.

This is probably the busiest day of the year for this hotel. Millions of lights light up the hotel and the central commercial district. Dozens of stalls, from street food to snacks, are open at full capacity.

Beyond the fun, the festival also provides a major boost to the local economy . Last year’s holiday season brought in over $40 million in revenue for Riverside businesses.

Started in 1992, this festival is held for Riverside families. What started with only about 50 thousand lights has now grown to nearly 10 million. The festival has become a signature event of Riverside. This festival is more than just a light show. It has transformed the entire downtown Riverside into a community gathering place. The festival is open to the public until the last night of 2025.
