100% of cases of viral encephalitis were under 15 years old, most were children under 1 year old with 10/31 cases. More dangerously, up to 45% of cases were positive for Japanese encephalitis virus.
Although there are sporadic cases of viral encephalitis, no large outbreaks have been recorded, however, this is a very dangerous disease, leaving many sequelae for patients and has a high mortality rate. To proactively prevent encephalitis, the Provincial Center for Disease Control recommends that localities strengthen community case surveillance, early detection of cases to support handling and treatment; promptly localize and thoroughly handle outbreaks as soon as they are detected; strengthen screening and organize Japanese encephalitis vaccination for children of full age, on schedule, and safely.
