In implementation of Plan No. 132, dated September 14, 2023, of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee on propaganda and organization of activities to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 145, dated June 14, 2024, launching an emulation movement to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
Lively activities
Following the merger of Lang Son Newspaper and the Provincial Radio and Television Station on April 1, 2025, the province now has only two provincial media outlets: Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station; and Lang Son Arts and Literature Magazine. In addition, the province currently has 13 representative offices and 19 resident reporters from central media agencies; the Provincial Association of Literature, Arts and Journalists has nearly 400 members, of which more than 150 are involved in journalism.
Following the plan of the Provincial People's Committee, the emulation movement to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day has been enthusiastically embraced by the province's press agencies; the Provincial Association of Literature, Arts and Journalists; the cultural, sports and media centers of the districts; and the representative offices of central press agencies in the province, with many vibrant activities.
For example, the Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station have directed their specialized departments and affiliated organizations to organize many practical activities and movements, focusing on key political tasks and themes of the unit. Specifically, these include: launching a high-intensity emulation campaign to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day (the peak period from April 10, 2024 to May 10, 2025); organizing a seminar commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day with the theme "Journalism: The Secretary of the Era"; organizing the Lang Son Journalists' Singing Festival; and the Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station Youth Union organizing a minigame "100 Years - Sharp Pen, Pure Heart"... These activities not only create a vibrant atmosphere of competition but also contribute to discovering and honoring outstanding journalists, inspiring a love for the profession in the younger generation.
Journalist Nguyen Dong Bac, Editor-in-Chief of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station, affirmed: The emulation movement not only creates a spirit of achievement to celebrate the traditional day of the profession, but also provides an opportunity for each journalist to reflect on the journey so far, thereby continuing to contribute, innovate, and create to meet new requirements. We especially encourage works with depth, focusing on grassroots issues and accompanying the development of the province. In the coming time, we will continue to spread the spirit of the emulation movement to the staff, officials, and workers of the unit to successfully complete political tasks, worthy of being the mouthpiece of the Party, the voice of the Party Committee and the government, and the people in the province.
In addition, the Provincial Association of Literature, Arts and Journalists actively responded by launching a competitive emulation movement among all members, focusing on four key areas: strengthening political integrity and professional ethics; improving professional skills; fostering a sense of responsibility; and spreading the positive image of journalists. The Provincial Association of Literature, Arts and Journalists also organized thematic meetings and trips to historical sites to exchange professional knowledge and rekindle passion for the profession.
Mr. Nguyen Phuc Ha, Chairman of the Provincial Association of Literature, Arts and Journalists, informed: Activities in response to the emulation movement have been in-depth and practical, contributing to fostering a love for the profession and a sense of social responsibility among local journalists. Since October 2024, the Provincial Association of Literature, Arts and Journalists has launched an emulation movement to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day. This focuses on promoting and enhancing the role and responsibility of leading officials, managers, and heads of press agencies; competing to fulfill assigned political tasks well; creating high-quality journalistic works that truthfully reflect issues and fields of social life to participate in national and provincial press awards. Based on this, we selected and proposed to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to award certificates of merit to 23 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day.
Ignite the passion
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day, press and media agencies throughout the province are striving to effectively carry out their tasks of disseminating information and promptly reporting on provincial events and various aspects of social life. This aims to encourage and motivate the people to participate in achieving the goals and tasks of socio-economic development, national defense and security, and building and protecting the Fatherland.
From the vibrant atmosphere of emulation, many high-quality journalistic works have been produced; promoting patriotic emulation movements; discovering, nurturing, commending, honoring, and replicating exemplary collectives and individuals, spreading positive values in society. Notable examples include reporters from Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station winning awards at regional and national journalism competitions. Highlights include: one work winning the A prize and one work winning the C prize at the Fourth Political Commentary Competition on Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation in 2024; one work winning an encouragement prize at the 16th "For the Cause of National Unity" Journalism Award in 2023-2024;… This further demonstrates the continuous creativity of the reporters and journalists in Lang Son.
These days, journalists in the province are enthusiastically competing in preparation for the 100th anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day; honoring outstanding journalists and presenting the 5th Lang Son Provincial Journalism Award in 2025. This is an annual journalism award, a meaningful professional platform for journalists in the province.
With nearly 15 years of experience, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Ngan, a reporter from the Television, Newspaper and Radio and Television Department of Lang Son, has won numerous provincial and national journalism awards, as well as specialized journalism awards. At this year's Provincial Journalism Awards, she and two other authors won the B prize with the work "Reviving Agricultural Cooperatives." She was honored to be selected to represent young journalists and share her thoughts at the commemorative ceremony. Ms. Ngan shared: "I find my youth truly meaningful because I live with passion and dedicate myself wholeheartedly to the revolutionary journalism cause. We hope to learn from previous generations and be further motivated by the recognition and encouragement of society to grow in each article, each image, and each reporting trip. Responding to the emulation movement to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism Day, I actively participate in activities at the agency and create high-quality journalistic works to participate in journalism competitions." This field is not only a source of motivation but also an opportunity for me to learn and improve my professional skills.
After many years of living in Lang Son, Nguyen Anh Tuan, originally from Hanoi and a Vietnam News Agency correspondent based in the province, has developed a deep affection for the land and people of this region, expressed through his articles and photographs. Tuan shared: "As a resident correspondent, I am often away from home, but my passion for the profession has motivated me to overcome difficulties and successfully complete my assigned tasks. I feel proud to travel, write, and convey the beautiful images of Lang Son province to the public."
The emulation movement leading up to the 100th anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day will continue to spread with many extensive activities throughout June. This is not only an opportunity to look back, express gratitude, and honor the journalistic profession, but also a chance for each journalist to renew themselves, promote their pioneering role on the ideological front, and be worthy of being a bridge between the Party, the government, and the people in the digital age.
