Pursuant to Plan No. 132, dated September 14, 2023 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on propaganda and organization of activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 145 dated June 14, 2024 to launch an emulation movement to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
Lively activities
After Lang Son Newspaper and the Provincial Radio and Television Station (PTTH) merged from April 1, 2025, the province still has 2 provincial press agencies: Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station; and Lang Literature and Arts Magazine. In addition, there are currently 13 representative offices and 19 central press agency reporters residing in the province; the Provincial Literature, Arts and Journalists Association has nearly 400 members, of which more than 150 members work in journalism.
Implementing the plan of the Provincial People's Committee, the emulation movement to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day has been enthusiastically responded to by the provincial press agencies; the Provincial Association of Literature, Arts and Journalists; cultural, sports and communication centers of districts; representative offices of central press agencies in the province, with many exciting activities.
Typically, Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station has directed specialized departments and affiliated organizations to organize many practical activities and movements, in each peak period associated with the political tasks and key themes of the unit. Specifically: launching a peak emulation period to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (peak period from April 10, 2024 to May 10, 2025); organizing a talk show to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day with the theme "Journalism: Secretary of the times"; organizing the Lang Son Journalists' Singing Festival; Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station's Youth Union organized the minigame "100 years - Sharp pen, pure heart"... These activities not only create a vibrant competitive atmosphere but also contribute to discovering and honoring exemplary journalists, inspiring love for the profession to the younger generation.
Journalist Nguyen Dong Bac, Editor-in-Chief of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station, affirmed: The emulation movement not only creates an atmosphere of achievement to celebrate the traditional day of the profession, but is also an opportunity for each journalist to look back on the past, from there continue to contribute, innovate, and create to meet new requirements. We especially encourage works with depth, grassroots topics, accompanying the development of the province. In the coming time, we will continue to spread the spirit of the emulation movement to the team of cadres, civil servants, and employees of the unit to successfully complete political tasks, worthy of being the mouthpiece of the Party, the voice of the Party Committee and the government, and the people in the province.
Along with that, the Provincial Association of Literature, Arts and Journalists also actively responded by launching an emulation movement among all members, focusing on 4 key contents: strengthening political capacity and professional ethics; improving professional qualifications; arousing the sense of responsibility and spreading the image of journalists. The Provincial Association of Literature, Arts and Journalists also organized thematic activities, journeys to the source to exchange professional knowledge and fuel passion for the profession.
Mr. Nguyen Phuc Ha, Chairman of the Provincial Association of Literature, Arts and Journalists, informed: The activities responding to the emulation movement are in-depth and practical, contributing to arousing the spirit of love for the profession and responsibility to society of the local press team. Since October 2024, the Provincial Association of Literature, Arts and Journalists has launched an emulation movement to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day. It focuses on propagating and promoting the role and responsibility of the team of leaders, managers, and heads of press agencies; competing to perform well the assigned political tasks, creating high-quality press works, truthfully reflecting the issues and fields of social life to participate in the Central and provincial press awards. On that basis, we selected, reviewed, and proposed that the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee award certificates of merit to 23 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

Carrying out the emulation movement to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, press and media agencies in the province compete to perform well the task of propaganda, promptly reflecting the events of the province, and widely reflecting all aspects of social life. Thereby encouraging and motivating the people to participate in implementing the goals and tasks of socio-economic development, national defense and security, building and protecting the Fatherland.
From the enthusiastic competitive atmosphere, many high-quality press works have been born; propagating patriotic emulation movements; discovering, nurturing, praising, honoring and promoting typical advanced collectives and individuals, spreading positive values in society. Typically, reporters of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station won awards at regional and national press competitions. Notably: 1 work won A prize, 1 work won C prize at the 4th Political Essay Competition on Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation, 2024; 1 work won an encouragement prize at the 16th "For the Cause of Great National Unity" Press Award, 2023 - 2024; ... That further demonstrates the unceasing creativity of the team of reporters and journalists in Lang Son land.
These days, journalists in the province are excited and striving to compete towards the 100th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day; praising and honoring outstanding journalists and awarding the 5th Lang Son Provincial Press Award in 2025. This is an annual press award, a meaningful professional playground for journalists in the province.
With nearly 15 years of experience, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Ngan, a reporter for the Lang Son Television, Newspaper and Radio and Television Department, has won many provincial and national journalism awards, as well as specialized journalism awards. At this year's Provincial Journalism Awards, she and two other authors won the B prize with the work "Reviving Agricultural Cooperatives". She was honored to be chosen as a representative for young journalists to speak at the celebration program. Ms. Ngan shared: I find my youth very meaningful when I live with passion, dedicating myself to the revolutionary journalism career. We wish to learn from previous generations, to be motivated by the recognition and encouragement of society to become more mature in each article, each frame, each working trip. Responding to the emulation movement to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, I actively participate in activities at the agency, creating quality journalistic works to participate in journalism competitions. This is not only a motivation but also an opportunity for me to learn and improve my professional expertise.
After many years of being attached to Lang Son, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, a native of Hanoi, a Vietnam News Agency reporter stationed in the province, has devoted much affection to the land and people here, expressed through each article and image. Mr. Tuan confided: As a resident reporter, I often have to be away from home, but my passion for the job has urged me to overcome difficulties and complete the assigned tasks well. I feel proud to be able to travel, write, and convey beautiful images of Lang Son province to the public.
The emulation movement towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day will continue to spread with many extensive activities in June. This is not only an opportunity to look back, show gratitude and honor the journalism profession, but also an opportunity for each journalist to renew themselves, promote their pioneering role on the ideological front, and be worthy of being a bridge between the Party, the government and the people in the digital age.
