The DARD recommends that the local agricultural sector remind farmers to visit the fields regularly to promptly detect and take timely intervention measures when diseases and pests appear, in order to reduce yield losses caused by diseases.

Summer-autumn rice 2025 in Co Do district is flowering and growing well.

In the 2025 summer-autumn rice crop, Can Tho City farmers have planted 70,764 hectares, reaching 100.8% of the plan. This summer-autumn rice crop, farmers sowed high-quality rice varieties, mainly Dai Thom 8, OM380, OM5451, OM18... and used certified varieties or higher. Of which, OM5451 accounted for 49% of the area, OM18 accounted for 33%, OM380 accounted for 5%, Dai Thom 8 accounted for 1%, IR50404 accounted for 2% and other varieties accounted for 10%.

Currently, rice is in the tillering, panicle and flowering stages. The Department of Agriculture of districts and counties has implemented a number of solutions to manage pests and ensure high rice yields. In particular, in the late sowing stage of Vinh Thanh and Thoi Lai districts, it is necessary to pay attention to the stage of fertilizing to welcome panicles at the right time when panicles have just emerged from 1-2mm; provide enough nitrogen and potassium nutrients for the plant to differentiate panicles to create more branches and flowers (form grains); in the panicle to flowering stage, when pests such as brown planthoppers, leaf rollers appear, farmers are advised to monitor and limit spraying pesticides (when not necessary) to protect natural enemies, reduce the risk of outbreaks of brown planthoppers and other pests; continue to mobilize farmers to organize a campaign to simultaneously kill rats on a large scale, and at the same time strictly prohibit the use of electricity to kill rats, do not use banned drugs, drugs not on the list; For leaf blast, neck blast, and leaf blight diseases, farmers are advised to visit the fields regularly, check the disease lesions carefully to detect and treat them promptly, use the right medicine, and prevent and treat them effectively...
