Red Flag Youth contributes to building new countryside

In the period of 2022-2025, the Youth Union chapters of Co Do district have concretized the movement to participate in building new rural areas in association with the characteristics of the locality. As a result, the district's youth have carried out 642 projects and youth work at all levels, benefiting the community with more than 3.5 billion VND. Notably, more than 16,000 trees were planted, public lighting was installed on roads with a length of more than 16.5 km, 9 Hy Vong bridges were built and 2 houses were built to support union members in difficult circumstances. Many volunteer models have created a ripple effect in the community: "National Flag Road", "Self-managed Youth Road", "Residential Area without young people with social evils". In particular, peak emulation periods, such as Youth Month and the annual Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, attracted more than 3,900 union members and young people to participate.

According to Mr. Nguyen Truong An, Secretary of Trung Thanh Commune Youth Union, in the past 2 years, the commune's youth have carried out many tasks to participate in the construction of new rural areas such as repairing and building bridges and roads, registering to build the model "Civilized - bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe route", "Route to light up the countryside road". From 2024 to now, the commune's youth have coordinated to build 3 Hy Vong bridges and 16 projects, 24 tasks to participate in the construction of new rural areas, with a total value of over 1.7 billion VND. In addition, the youth union regularly participates in the movements "Volunteer Saturday", "Green Sunday" with many activities of environmental sanitation, clearing bushes, planting ornamental flowers and installing propaganda signs for the construction of new rural areas.

Activities to support young union members in starting a business have been carried out with interest by the Youth Union units. Thereby, they have provided career counseling, introduced, solved jobs and provided vocational training for 5,132 young union members; launched 20 effective economic models such as aquaculture, fruit tree and ornamental flower planting, and seedling and animal supply services... A typical example is Mr. Nguyen Van Kha in Thoi Huu hamlet, Dong Hiep commune, with a highly effective vegetable and mango growing model. From 1.5 hectares of rice, in 2020, he switched to growing 650 fruit trees (mango, star fruit and almond), intercropping vegetables, with the motto "taking short-term to support long-term", earning a profit of more than 150 million VND/year. Mr. Kha's model also creates jobs for 5 local workers, contributing to increasing the income of young union members.

Mr. Vo Van Tham, Secretary of Dong Hiep Commune Youth Union, said: “The Commune Youth Union regularly coordinates with units to organize training and share new scientific and technical knowledge in agricultural production such as organic farming techniques, effective use of manure and biological products, and online sales skills on e-commerce platforms. Field seminars and visits to effective economic models are also organized in conjunction with Youth Union activities for Youth Union members to learn and share experiences in production”. In addition, Youth Union units coordinate with the Social Policy Bank to effectively manage the entrusted capital managed by the Youth Union, in order to create jobs and increase income for Youth Union members. Up to now, the total outstanding debt from the entrusted capital managed by the Youth Union is more than 14 billion VND, with 9 savings and loan groups operating effectively.

In the coming time, the Youth Union at all levels will continue to improve the organizational structure when implementing a two-level government (provincial - communal level). At the same time, continue to promote the pioneering and voluntary role of young union members in participating in building advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas. The focus is on establishing youth volunteer teams, self-managed youth teams, youth patrol teams; replicating the models of "Self-managed youth routes", "Civilized - bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe routes", "Residential areas without young people involved in social evils". Youth Union bases support young union members in converting crop and livestock structures; replicating and developing youth cooperatives; building model fields; consulting, introducing jobs and vocational training for young union members; implementing training programs, supporting ideas and models of start-ups and businesses associated with digital transformation and promoting local potential and strengths.
