Ta Trach Lake increases flood control flow on the morning of October 18 |
On the morning of October 18, the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control issued an order to increase the operating flow of Ta Trach reservoir. According to the Irrigation Investment and Construction Management Board 5, the water level of Ta Trach reservoir at 8:00 a.m. on October 18 was at +42.32m, the inflow to the reservoir was 1,118m3/s, the downstream flow was 290m3/s; the water level on the Huong River at Kim Long hydrological station was at +1.72m, the flood situation in the upstream of the reservoirs continued to be very complicated.
To ensure the safety of the dam and downstream area, following Operation Order No. 253/LVH-PCTT dated October 16, the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control requested to adjust the flow rate of Ta Trach Reservoir through the spillway and turbine with a gradual increase in flow rate, avoiding sudden changes of about 400 - 900m3/s. Adjust operations depending on the actual flow rate to the reservoir.
Traffic starts to increase gradually at 10am the same day.
Request the Investment and Construction Management Board of Irrigation 5 to notify and warn the downstream area, closely monitor the water level on the Huong River at Kim Long station and regularly update information to report to the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue for direction. Localities downstream of Ta Trach Lake strictly prohibit boating, firewood collection, and fishing on the river, and at the same time notify people to proactively prevent.
Previously, the Provincial Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control issued a warning this morning that the water level on the Bo River would continue to rise and could reach alert level III of +4.5m (the historical flood peak in 2020 was +5.24m, in 1999 it was 5.18m), the Huong River could reach alert level II of +2m (the flood peak in 2020 was +4.17m, in 1999 it was +5.81m).
