Slight increase in some localities, Vietnam continues to export swine fever vaccine to the Philippines

*Pig price in the North:

This morning, the price of live pigs in the Northern region increased slightly in Vinh Phuc , up to 66,000 VND/kg.

The remaining localities buy live pigs at unchanged prices.

Today's live pig price in the North fluctuates between 64,000 - 66,000 VND/kg.

*Pig price in the Central Highlands region

In the Central and Central Highlands regions, the trading price of live pigs did not record any new fluctuations.

Quang Tri, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak and Ninh Thuan provinces are still the localities with the lowest purchase price of 62,000 VND/kg.

Other provinces in the region trade in the range of 63,000 - 65,000 VND/kg.

* Pig price in the Southern region

The southern pig market increased by 1,000 VND/kg in some places.

Currently, after increasing by 1,000 VND/kg in this morning's session, live pigs in Ben Tre are being purchased at 62,000 VND/kg. This transaction price is also recorded in the provinces of Binh Phuoc, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh and Ho Chi Minh City.

With the same increase, Bac Lieu adjusted the price of live pigs to 63,000 VND/kg.

The purchase price of live pigs in the South today is from 62,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.

* After two shipments of 300,000 doses of vaccine were exported in July 2023 to the Philippines, Vietnam recently continued to send another batch of 150,000 doses of vaccine to prevent African swine fever to this market.

Mr. Nguyen Van Diep, General Director of AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company, said that on August 29, the company will export an additional 150,000 doses of African swine fever vaccine, part of the order of 600,000 doses that the Philippine government has placed. The delivery will be divided into several batches to complete the contract.

Previously, Vietnam exported 305,000 doses of African swine fever vaccine, of which the Philippines received 300,000 doses and Nigeria received 5,000 doses. The batch of 300,000 doses of vaccine that the Philippines imported from AVAC Vietnam was carried out in July 2023 and the country tested it on 30 large-scale farms with a total of 150,000 pigs. The test results showed that the vaccinated pigs were all healthy and met the protection requirements until they were sold.

Based on this result, by July 2024, the Philippines officially licensed the circulation of Vietnam's "AVAC ASF LIVE" vaccine in this country.

To date, Vietnam is the only country that has successfully researched and officially commercialized an African swine fever vaccine. At the same time, Vietnam is also the first country to export this vaccine.

In addition to the Philippines, several other countries are currently registering to test vaccines produced by Vietnam to prevent African swine fever, such as: India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Myanmar and Nigeria.
