On January 18, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam announced: The leaders of the Civil Aviation Authority agreed to continue adjusting the parameters for coordinating take-off and landing times (slots) for the second time at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, based on the assessment of the transportation needs of Vietnamese airlines and the service capacity of the units, to meet the increased travel needs of people during the peak period of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024.
Accordingly, from February 1 to February 21 (ie December 22 to January 12), the Civil Aviation Authority will increase the slots at Tan Son Nhat airport during the daytime (6:00-23:55) from 44 slots/hour to 46 slots/hour; and during the nighttime (0:00-5:55) from 40 slots/hour to 42 slots/hour.
"With the increase in coordination parameters, Vietnamese airlines will be confirmed with an additional 48 slots/day equivalent to about 10,000 seats/day to add to routes with high booking rates, contributing to preventing the situation of people being late returning home for Tet due to lack of means of transportation according to the direction of the Prime Minister ," said the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
Specifically, these are flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Pleiku, Quy Nhon, Chu Lai, Buon Ma Thuot, Hue, Tuy Hoa, Thanh Hoa, Da Nang , Quang Binh, Hai Phong, Vinh.
In addition, the Civil Aviation Authority also requested airlines to review their operating plans, continue to optimize slot funds, increase flights at night, manage and operate flights on time, and limit delays and cancellations during the peak period of the Lunar New Year 2024.
According to statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority, from January 21 to February 25 (ie from December 11 to February 16), Vietnamese airlines will operate more than 1,800 night flights between 9:00 p.m. and 5:59 a.m., accounting for about 8% of total domestic flights.
