The Veterans Association of Y Yen district introduces typical production and business products of members in the district. |
In order to support members in economic development, the Association of War Veterans at all levels in Ý Yên district has promoted the movement "War Veterans help each other reduce poverty, do good business"; encouraged members to actively change the structure of crops and livestock, invest in intensive farming, improve production efficiency; regularly check and evaluate the living conditions of members, especially members in difficult circumstances, to develop plans to help and support; build criteria for striving to do good business in each grassroots unit, branch and member's family. In addition, the Association at all levels also regularly organizes activities to give gifts and scholarships to children of members in difficult circumstances who overcome difficulties to study well; visit and give gifts to poor members; donate to support members who are sick, seriously ill, etc. In 2024, the Association of War Veterans at all levels in the district gave 803 gifts to members in difficult circumstances and policy families, worth over 127 million VND. Joining hands with all levels and sectors to support people affected by storm No. 3 Yagi, the District Veterans Association called on cadres and members to donate a total of 765 million VND. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, the District Veterans Association coordinated with the District Fatherland Front to receive 300 gifts, worth 500,000 VND/gift, from the Veterans Association of the Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation to give to families of war invalids, martyrs, and members of the Veterans Association in difficult circumstances in the district. The District Veterans Association presented 60 gifts, worth 200,000 VND/gift to members in difficult circumstances. The Veterans Associations of communes and towns presented 115 gifts, worth 200,000 VND/gift to poor members' families and policy beneficiaries. From 2024 to present, the District Veterans Association has handed over 7 gratitude houses, worth 30 million VND/house, to members with especially difficult housing circumstances.
Accompanying members in economic development, the Association at all levels focuses on vocational training, expanding linkages to organize vocational training at enterprises and craft villages; coordinating with functional units to open training courses on agricultural extension, training to improve knowledge on economic development; guiding members to introduce high-yield, high-value plants and breeds into production and animal husbandry; organizing for members to visit typical models and hold conferences to evaluate and draw experiences in replicating advanced typical models. Along with that, the Association at all levels creates conditions for members to meet, exchange, and cooperate with enterprises, cooperatives... owned by war veterans to help each other develop the economy. Typical models are: Veterans Club, veteran business production, veteran group developing bronze casting and traditional carpentry models... The Veterans Club, veteran business production in the district currently has over 50 members, 100% of members have stable business models with an average income of 150 million VND/model/year. Currently, the clubs and models are operating stably, organizing meetings at least once a year, as a place to exchange information, learn about production, business experiences, and product consumption markets.
Supporting members in economic development and legitimate enrichment, the district Veterans Association at all levels also creates all conditions for members to access loan sources. Accordingly, the district Veterans Association widely propagates the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on preferential credit policies for poor households and policy beneficiaries, credit programs for students to cadres and members managed by the Veterans Association; actively participates with the government and organizations in reviewing poor households and policy beneficiaries who are eligible for loans. In order for capital sources to be effective, the Association at all levels coordinates with the Social Policy Bank and credit institutions to train capital management skills for savings and loan groups on the allocation, loan assessment, disbursement, capital recovery, interest payment, management and effective use of capital...; evaluates the quality of savings and loan groups' operations according to regulations. Therefore, the quality of loan sources is always guaranteed, with no overdue debt.
Up to now, the District Veterans Association is receiving trust through the Social Policy Bank with a total outstanding loan balance of over 61.5 billion VND for 1,293 members. In addition, the District Veterans Association at all levels has also built and effectively used the "Comrades' Arms" Fund and the Association Fund to support members in economic development. Accordingly, a part of the fund is used for common work, or as a reserve in case of emergency; the other part will be balanced for members to borrow without interest, or at low interest rates to develop the family economy. Up to now, the "Comrades' Arms" Fund of the District Veterans Association has reached nearly 300 million VND, the Association Fund has over 6 billion VND for hundreds of members to borrow without interest or at low interest rates, helping to solve urgent capital problems for economic models. Promoting the effectiveness of loan capital, many members have risen out of poverty, become rich, and their material and spiritual lives have been increasingly improved. Currently, the district has hundreds of economic development models owned by war veteran members, many of which generate incomes of hundreds of millions of VND or more. The entire association has 17 small and medium enterprises, 8 cooperatives, 3 cooperative groups, 24 farms, and 218 households owned by war veteran members, creating jobs for nearly 2,000 local workers, mainly children of war veterans and former soldiers.
With many creative ways, the Association of War Veterans in Ý Yên district has become a solid foundation to help many War Veterans in the district promote their creativity in labor, production, business, and strive to become rich legitimately. Up to now, the number of poor members in the district has decreased, the number of well-off and rich households has increased to nearly 65%. In the coming time, to support members in economic development, the Association at all levels will continue to mobilize members to participate in economic restructuring towards multi-industry, focusing on developing models of farms, family farms, and small enterprises; create conditions for near-poor and poor war veterans to access capital sources, have conditions to participate in production development; implement emulation movements to help each other develop the economy, reduce poverty sustainably; replicate models of war veterans doing well in the economy, encourage enterprises, cooperatives, and production workshops owned by war veterans to pay attention, creating stable jobs for children of war veterans and former soldiers.
