The project proposed by Vingroup Corporation is called "Quang Binh Wind Power Plant - Vingroup" and is expected to be deployed in the coastal waters of the following localities: Quang Trach district, Ba Don town, Bo Trach district, Dong Hoi city and Le Thuy district, within 6 nautical miles from shore.
The project has a total investment of about 3.9 billion USD, divided into two phases. Phase 1 (2025-2030), with a capacity of about 1,500 MW, is expected to be connected to the power system through the 500 kV Quang Binh 1 transformer station or the 500 kV Quang Tri - Vung Ang transmission line. Phase 2 (2031-2035), will continue to develop an additional 1,500 MW, connected at the 500 kV Quang Binh 2 transformer station.
Upon completion, the project is capable of providing a total electricity output of about 8.6 billion kWh per year, contributing to ensuring energy security, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and in line with the clean energy development strategy that the Government is implementing.

According to Vingroup, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is currently finalizing the adjusted Power Plan VIII to submit to the Prime Minister for approval, in which 2,002 MW of nearshore wind power capacity has been allocated to Quang Binh province for the 2021-2030 period.
Therefore, the successful implementation of the 2,002 MW project will contribute to Quang Binh province being able to complete the tasks assigned by the Government to ensure power supply security for Quang Binh province in particular and the national power system in general.
In addition, the successful implementation of the project will also contribute to the growth of Quang Binh's GRDP to meet the growth target of 8% in 2025 and over 10% in the following years.
