On September 20th, the Market Management Department of Thanh Hoa province, in collaboration with Pham & Lien Doanh Law Firm, the legal representative in Vietnam of Honda Motor Company, organized a conference on distinguishing genuine from counterfeit Honda products.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Director of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Market Management Department, Le The Anh, emphasized that in recent times, the Market Management Department has detected and decisively handled many cases of violations related to counterfeit goods and intellectual property infringement. However, the situation of commercial fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement remains complex. Currently, the counterfeiting and infringement of intellectual property rights for brands is occurring daily in the market and is becoming increasingly sophisticated, causing considerable difficulties for functional forces in detecting, inspecting, and handling. Therefore, close and timely coordination between rights holders and production units is needed, from identifying signs of infringement to verifying and assessing the basis for handling violations.

A representative from Honda Vietnam stated that tens of thousands of counterfeit spare parts are seized annually, focusing on safety features such as brake pads and brake cables, directly affecting customer safety and vehicle lifespan. In addition, counterfeit Honda Vietnam labels, lubricants, and signage that do not conform to the company's specifications are also being produced and sold on the market with great sophistication.
Therefore, at the training session, Mr. Nguyen The Nam, a specialist from Pham & Lien Doanh Law Firm, shared and guided participants on several ways to identify and distinguish genuine from counterfeit Honda Vietnam products, focusing on key areas including: automobile and motorcycle trademarks, spare parts, lubricants, store design, industrial design infringement, and trademark violations for some Honda motorcycle models.
At the same time, it introduces the new regulations of the Intellectual Property Law and some legal issues related to handling intellectual property infringements.
