In Muong Xen commune ( Nghe An province), the water has receded, leaving behind a thick layer of mud and waste in residential areas, roads, and houses... Currently, authorities are working to help people overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Cuong, Vice Chairman of Muong Xen Commune People's Committee, said that up to now, the rain has stopped in the area and the flood water has receded to the river. The area is no longer flooded, however, due to the large, dense layers of mud and debris left behind by the flood, burying the roads, it has isolated some areas and people have to travel mainly on foot.
Among them are National Highway 7, Road 543D and some inter-commune and inter-village roads in the old Ta Ca and Muong Xen areas close to the riverbank. In addition, many residential areas in the commune center are littered with garbage and mud.

Currently, the local government has been mobilizing all commune officials, police forces, militia, organizations, and local people to urgently focus on cleaning up mud and trash on main traffic routes and residential areas, helping people clean up their homes.

However, due to the small number of forces, lack of supporting equipment and machinery, the work of overcoming the consequences of floods and storms is facing many difficulties. Currently, the locality is in great need of high-pressure water washing machines (at least about 2 machines) to wash away mud on the streets, residential areas, and houses to help people. In addition, it is necessary to mobilize some more wheel loaders to push mud; mobilize more forces to support people in handling and cleaning mud out of their houses.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ba Cuong, fortunately, there were no casualties in this flood. However, the property damage was huge, including some houses that were swept away and severely damaged by floodwaters. The locality is currently focusing on overcoming the consequences, so the extent of the damage cannot be determined yet.

On the same afternoon, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Con Cuong Commune (Nghe An Province) said that currently, the rain has stopped in the area, however, National Highway 7 through Con Cuong is blocked and divided at 2 points (the starting point to Con Cuong and the point through the old town). The functional forces are on duty at both ends to ensure safety, to cross this area, you have to use a boat.

Up to this point, there have been no human casualties in the area, however, many areas are deeply flooded, mainly due to water discharged from hydropower plants. Of these, 19/36 villages were flooded from 1-3m, about 304 households were flooded, affecting property, livestock, and crops of the people. Currently, the local government has mobilized functional forces, organizations, and people to focus on helping people overcome the consequences of flood damage.

To ensure absolute safety for people and minimize the risk of damage, the People's Committee of Con Cuong commune also reported and requested the People's Committee of Nghe An province, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of the province to support 6 large motorboats to be qualified to cross the Lam River; from 300-500 life jackets and rescue vehicles; from 60-90 people (including forces that can drive motorboats); necessary necessities (drinking water, instant dry foods...).
