In recent years, for the people of Vu Di commune, Vinh Tuong district, pumpkin has become a commodity crop with high economic efficiency. Compared to other crops such as corn, soybeans, sweet potatoes, pumpkin is a very easy-to-grow, easy-to-care-for crop, with few pests and diseases, and yields 2-3 times more profit. Thanks to the advantages and benefits of pumpkin, in recent years, in addition to the area supporting the province's commodity production area, pumpkin has been actively expanded by local farmers and made the most of the available area for intensive cultivation of pumpkin, thereby forming concentrated pumpkin commodity production areas in the localities.
This winter crop, the whole province strives to plant nearly 15,000 hectares. To ensure the most effective structure of varieties in the winter crop, the Department of Agriculture has requested its affiliated units to closely coordinate with localities to focus on planting high-quality, high-yield varieties suitable for production conditions; at the same time, transfer scientific and technical advances to the people.
