Focus on responding to the risk of heavy rain, landslides, flash floods

On June 10, the Provincial People's Committee issued a document requesting departments, branches and localities to focus on responding to the risks of heavy rain, landslides, flash floods and proactively prevent natural disasters in the province during this year's rainy and stormy season.

According to forecasts, storms and tropical depressions will become more active from now until the end of the year, concentrated in the second half of the rainy season.

Dak Lak province has recorded rain since mid-April, especially at the end of May there was widespread heavy rain, in some places rainfall reached more than 130 mm/period, the risk of storms, floods, landslides, and flash floods is high.

Since the beginning of the rainy season, Dak Lak has continuously received heavy rains.

Faced with the above situation, the Provincial People's Committee requests departments, branches, sectors and localities, according to their assigned functions, tasks and authorities, to focus on directing, proactively inspecting, urging and organizing the timely and effective implementation of natural disaster prevention, control and rescue work; not to be passive, surprised, or interrupted in the work of responding to natural disasters when arranging and perfecting the organization of the political system and rearranging administrative units and local government organizations at 2 levels.

In particular, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue is required to organize on-duty work to closely monitor weather and natural disaster situations to promptly inform authorities and people to proactively respond and minimize damage.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment closely monitors weather and natural disasters to promptly direct production and ensure the safety of irrigation works in the province. At the same time, review and develop a plan to reorganize the force performing the task of natural disaster prevention, control, and rescue at the provincial level according to the instructions of competent authorities, in accordance with the actual conditions of the locality to ensure smooth, effective and efficient operations from July 1, 2025...

The Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities are fully responsible to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for directing the work of natural disaster prevention, control, search and rescue in the area; directing relevant agencies and units according to their functions and tasks to continue to closely monitor the situation, continue to seriously, promptly and effectively implement the work of natural disaster prevention, control, search and rescue in the area according to the motto "four on-site", with the goal of ensuring the safety of people's lives above all.

Absolutely do not allow any interruption in directing response to natural disasters when restructuring administrative units and organizing local governments at two levels. At the same time, complete response plans for each type of natural disaster such as heavy rain, landslides, flash floods, storms, floods and develop scenarios to be ready to respond and protect key points, not to be passive or surprised when situations arise...
