On the morning of November 2, the Safety Management Department II (Vietnam Railway Authority) said that on the railway line to Hai Van Nam station ( Da Nang city), a train derailment occurred, causing 3 freight cars to overturn, causing traffic congestion on the section of the route through Hai Van pass.
Specifically, at 9:10 p.m. on November 1, train ASY2 pulled 20 carriages with a load capacity of 840.7 tons into track 1 of Hai Van Nam station. When reaching km771+800 between N2/4 of Hai Van Nam station, 3 carriages of the train derailed.
The axles of the carriages flew off the rails, causing two containers on the carriages to topple onto track 2, one container tipping over to the left.
At this time, passenger train SE7 was also entering the Hai Van railway area in the North-South direction. However, because train ASY2 derailed, passenger train SE7 could not continue its journey.
Immediately afterwards, the above passengers were arranged to board a 45-seat bus to Da Nang to continue their journey to the South.
Railway management units, railway traffic police forces, and railway safety management mobilized vehicles and human resources to the scene to carry out rescue operations.
The railway line through Hai Van Pass is still blocked. Rescue forces have mobilized machinery and equipment to handle the incident and make efforts to clear the line.
