Working through Tet
Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant Project (2 units, total capacity of 1,403MW) invested by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), Power Project Management Board 2 (EVNPMB2) is the investor representative, built in Vinh Son village, Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province.
Mr. Do Thanh Tai, Deputy Director of EVNPMB2, Director of Project Management Board at Quang Trach Power Center said that, according to the direction of the Prime Minister, Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant Project will connect unit 1 to the grid before September 2, 2025.

Therefore, EVNPMB2 and all staff, workers and laborers at the construction site are ready to perform their duties throughout Tet, to ensure the completion of this goal, including ensuring full implementation of safety standards to meet quality requirements, approved progress, and compliance with legal regulations in construction investment.
The contractors have mobilized about 500 - 600 engineers, workers and 200 equipment, vehicles and machines to support the installation work at the construction site. All share the same determination to bring generator 1 to the grid according to the direction of the Prime Minister.
According to EVNPMB2's report, the project has completed about 81% of the work volume. Of which, the results of some construction packages such as: the freshwater pipeline has been basically completed; the pumping station has reached 87%; the fabrication and installation of steel structures for the coal warehouse roof and windbreak walls have reached about 70%,...
Currently, the contractor is urgently installing the cooling water intake and discharge pipeline system. This is a large construction and installation project with nearly 11 km of pipe length, the pipe sections have a diameter of 3.8 meters, a length of 18 meters and a weight of 30 tons.

The contractor representative also said that the construction work is greatly affected by the weather. If it rains, all installation work will have to be stopped and additional construction safety measures will have to be taken. If the humidity is above 85%, outdoor painting work will not be possible. The team of engineers and workers has divided into 6 simultaneous construction teams to speed up the progress. Each construction team reaches an average speed of 20-30 meters/day in favorable weather conditions.
At the construction site of the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant expansion, the working atmosphere before the Lunar New Year is still extremely urgent. This is a special construction project, with a scale of 2 generators with a total designed capacity of 480 MW, built on the right bank of the existing Hoa Binh Hydropower Dam. The project was assigned by EVN to the Power Project Management Board 1 (EVNPMB1) as the project investor representative.
On December 27, the construction team of Construction Joint Stock Company 47 (C47) - the project contractor, is carrying out the construction of water tunnel No. 1 with the goal of completing 2 blocks of sliding formwork.
Construction of the water tunnel is an extremely important item of the project, ensuring the progress of power generation of both units in 2025.
Mr. Tran Huu Phap, Deputy Head of Construction Site Command of Construction Joint Stock Company 47 (C47) said that, identifying the urgent nature of the project, C47 organized a workforce of workers to be on duty and ready to work at the site throughout the Lunar New Year this year, joining forces and determined to work with the investor to bring the project to the finish line on schedule in 2025.
Mr. Doan Ba Thuc, Deputy Director of the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion Project Management Board, representative of EVNPMB1, said that EVNPMB1 has urged and required the construction contractor to ensure safety, security and order and mobilize human resources for construction before, during and after the Lunar New Year holiday.
At the same time, EVNPMB1 requested related units such as EVN Repair Service Center, Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 and other related equipment suppliers to have plans to be on duty at the construction site during Tet.

With high spirit and determination, the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion Project is following the set schedule very well. By the end of January 2025, regarding the construction work, the reinforced concrete items of the water intake area; structural concrete of vertical wells No. 1, No. 2, etc. are all meeting and exceeding the project plan.
During the construction progress inspection on January 20, 2025, Mr. Dang Huy Cuong, member of the Board of Directors of EVN and Mr. Pham Hong Phuong, Deputy General Director of EVN requested EVNPMB1 and contractors to organize detailed and specific construction plans for each day during Tet, in order to maintain the progress that has been achieved during the past time, ensuring the goals of progress and quality of the project according to the set plan.
Taking care of workers on construction sites during Tet
At construction sites working during Tet, EVN, mass organizations and units pay attention to taking care of workers.
The regimes for employees working on Tet holidays are implemented in accordance with the provisions of law. Mr. Doan Ba Thuc, Deputy Director of the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion Project Management Board, said that employees during Tet are entitled to 300% of their normal working day salary and are given a "hot bonus" of a separate Tet gift regime. At the same time, the construction site also organizes a traditional Tet celebration on-site in a warm, frugal, and urgent spirit; to encourage and motivate the employees.
At the Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant construction site, a representative of the General Contractor's Management Board said that the work shifts are organized in a scientific rotation, ensuring the health of workers and optimizing construction efficiency. The Management Board also provides full labor protection, especially for outdoor construction items in rainy and cold weather conditions such as raincoats, anti-slip shoes, gloves, safety helmets and warming equipment.
Working through Tet, meals at the construction site were also full of green Chung cakes and familiar dishes during the traditional Tet holiday. “We miss home and family, but we feel proud to contribute to a big project like Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant - which is important in ensuring energy security”, shared Mr. Nguyen Vinh Thanh - a worker of Lilama 10.
To encourage staff, workers and laborers at the construction site, the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union also visited the construction site of Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant and Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, encouraged and shared the spirit of volunteering to work through Tet, and at the same time increased salary and nutrition benefits so that workers could work with peace of mind.
