Amid the rising number of Covid-19 cases in Thailand, especially after the recent Songkran holiday, the country's Ministry of Health said that Covid-19 and flu vaccines will be available at hospitals nationwide from May 1 onwards.
Thailand's Ministry of Public Health recommends that vulnerable groups, including the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions, as well as healthcare workers and frontline workers, get vaccinated against both influenza and Covid-19.
Given that outbreaks often begin at the beginning of the rainy season or the beginning of the new school year, the Thai government has also urged people to get a booster shot against Covid-19.
According to statistics, about 52% of new Covid-19 cases in Thailand are caused by the XBB subtype of the Omicron variant. The XBB.1.16 subtype is predicted to become the dominant subtype in Thailand in the next few months.
