PPRP deputy leader Paiboon Nititawan said General Prawit, who is also the outgoing deputy prime minister , submitted his resignation this morning, confirming that Prawit's resignation was effective immediately.

The resignation of the party leader means the end of the current term of the PPRP Party Executive Committee. Also on the morning of July 29, Deputy Party Leader Paiboon convened a meeting to elect a new party leader. A PPRP source said that during the meeting, Mr. Prawit was nominated again and he was the only candidate for this position. The source said that Mr. Prawit did not attend the meeting.

This week, the March Forward Party (MFP), the party that won the Thai general election on May 14, announced that it would not form an alliance with the PPRP and the United Thai National Party (UTN) in the process of forming a new government .
