According to the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province, Thai Nguyen is currently the province with the highest area, productivity, output, and income value from tea trees in the country.
After the merger, Thai Nguyen province has nearly 24,000 hectares of tea, of which the tea production area is nearly 23,000 hectares, the average tea yield reaches nearly 18 tons/ha; there are 207 processed tea products certified with OCOP from 3-5 stars.
However, the province’s tea industry has not yet fully exploited the potential, advantages and value of tea trees. Household production still accounts for a large proportion; the production scale of cooperatives and enterprises is still small; the application of science and technology in production is still limited…
This reality requires support policies to promote and exploit the full potential of tea plants, bringing high income, continuing to consolidate and enhance the position as the leading province in the country in tea development.
Accordingly, in the 2025-2030 period, the province will spend more than 500 billion VND to support development, increase production value and promote tourism development from tea trees and tea products in the area.
The province stipulates support contents including: tea planting; certification of meeting VietGAP and other GAP standards; production meeting organic standards; building and certifying quality management systems; granting codes for tea growing areas; applying water-saving and smart irrigation systems in tea production; purchasing machinery and equipment in tea production and processing; registering for intellectual property protection; developing tea products and products from tea trees certified to meet OСОР standards; promoting, building brands, promoting trade and consumption of tea products and products from tea trees; developing community-ecological tourism associated with tea production areas.
When planting tea, people will be supported 100% of the cost of buying seeds; one-time support of 70% of the cost of buying fertilizer.
When growing according to VIETGAP process and organic standards with a minimum area of 5 hectares, growers are supported 100% of the cost of first-time certification...
The promulgated policy has received the consensus and excitement of the people. When implemented, it will contribute to promoting safe, organic production associated with deep processing, diversifying products, rapidly increasing the proportion of high-quality, high-value products; attracting investment, promoting chain production, applying science, technology, innovation, digital transformation in production, processing, and business; preserving and promoting cultural and historical values, enhancing the value and brand of Thai Nguyen tea in the direction of integrating the multi-values of tea.
Thai Nguyen province strives to achieve a total value of products obtained from tea plants of 25 trillion VND by 2030.
