Attracting more and more investors into the forestry sector contributes to helping the province complete the program "Sustainable forestry development, enhanced livelihoods, increased forest cover, and adaptation to climate change" in the 2020-2025 term.

On February 23rd, Hieu Phuc Gia Lai Joint Stock Company received approval from the Provincial People's Committee for the investment in a production forest planting project in Dak Djrang commune, Mang Yang district. The project has a total investment of 8 billion VND.
Ms. Truong Thi Thuy, Director of Hieu Phuc Gia Lai Joint Stock Company, said: “The project is being implemented in plot 3, sub-area 496, in Dak Djrang commune, with an area of 50 hectares, for planting macadamia trees. We have received active support from the local government. Currently, we are preparing the necessary documents and procedures to lease the land. It is expected that after completing the land lease procedures, the company will clear the land to plant trees.”
Similarly, on March 7th, the Phu Vinh Gia Lai Agricultural and Forestry Company Limited's production forest planting project in Ia Khuol commune (Chu Pah district) received approval from the Provincial People's Committee for investment. Mr. Vo Duc Hau, Director of the company, stated: “The project has a total investment of 14 billion VND and will be implemented in plots 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 of sub-area 205, located in Ia Khuol commune, covering a total area of over 190 hectares. Of this, 100 hectares will be planted with perennial trees such as Melaleuca, Dalbergia, and Shorea, and over 90 hectares will be planted with timber trees such as Acacia and Eucalyptus...”
Perennial trees are only ready for harvesting after about 12 years or more, while timber trees require about 6 years. In 2025, we will plant approximately 50 hectares, half with perennial trees and half with timber trees. We are currently finalizing the land lease application.”
The Thanh Danh Company Limited's production forest planting project in Ia Rsai commune (Krong Pa district) also received investment approval from the Provincial People's Committee on February 28th. This project has a total investment of 10 billion VND and will be implemented in plots 2 and 6 of sub-area 1290; plots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 of sub-area 1300; and plots 1, 2, and 3 of sub-area 1301.

According to statistics, the province currently has 16 forest planting investment projects with a total registered capital of over 312 billion VND. Many businesses have completed their forest planting plans, such as: Lam Khang Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, which planted 175 hectares of forest in Ia Ka commune (Chu Pa district); Viet Stone Gia Lai Trading Company Limited, which planted 540 hectares of production forest in Ia Tul commune (Ia Pa district); Minh Phuoc Trading and Service Company Limited, which planted over 561 hectares of forest in Ia Hdreh commune (Krong Pa district) and 373 hectares of production forest in Chu A Thai commune (Phu Thien district)...
"Sustainable forestry development, enhanced livelihoods, increased forest cover, and adaptation to climate change" has been identified by the Provincial Party Committee as one of the four key programs for the 2020-2025 term. Gia Lai province has a total planned forestry development area of over 723,000 hectares; the forested area is 631,281 hectares (of which, natural forests account for over 478,820 hectares, and planted forests for over 152,470 hectares); and the forest cover and timber tree cover rate reaches 47%.
Gia Lai is also the province with the largest forest area in the Central Highlands region, accounting for 25.2% of the region's total area and 4.3% of the country's total forest area. Currently, the province has nearly 3,500 hectares of forest certified for sustainable management; 16 out of 34 forest management units have had their sustainable forest management plans approved.
Speaking with reporters, Mr. Luu Trung Nghia, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: “The Department regularly monitors and urges localities and units to inspect and resolve land-related issues, creating all favorable conditions for businesses to cooperate in investment and forest planting. At the same time, we continue to coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to remove policy difficulties and improve the investment environment to attract more investment projects in the field of forest planting.”
