At the Chinese National Games in Shenzhen, swimmer Yu Zidi finished the women's 200m individual medley final with an unbelievable time of 2 minutes 7 seconds 41.
This achievement not only helped her win the gold medal but also officially broke the old Asian record of 2 minutes 7 seconds 57 set by legend Ye Shiwen - 2012 London Olympic champion 12 years ago.
Yu's achievement has caused a stir in the professional world. She broke her own personal record by 1.8 seconds. At the same time, she became the 9th fastest swimmer in world history in this event.
Although it cannot threaten the world record of 2 minutes 5 seconds 70 of Summer McIntosh (Canada), this is still an impressive achievement for the Chinese prodigy.

Yu Zidi's performance was considered one of the most impressive performances of the Games. Leading swimming commentator Kyle Sockwell wrote on social media X: "Still trying to comprehend Yu Zidi's 2:07:41 200m medley time, who is only 13 years old. This has to be one of the most ridiculous performances of all time, right?"
SwimSwam swimming journalist Retta Race also commented: "We witnessed one of the most impressive women's 200m medley performances in swimming history."
This is not the first time Yu Zidi has made a splash. In 2024, at the age of 12, she won a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Previously, at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships, she also became the youngest athlete in history to win a medal at this tournament.
