Drug prevention and control action month from June 1 to 30, 2023

The Government Office has issued Official Dispatch No. 3426/VPCP-KGVX conveying the opinion of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Chairman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control.

Accordingly, the Deputy Prime Minister requested ministries, member agencies of the National Committee, People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to direct the implementation of the Action Month on Drug Prevention and Control from June 1 to 30, 2023 with the theme "Resolutely and effectively preventing and controlling drugs, enhancing responsibility, proactively coordinating - For a drug-free community".

The purpose and requirements of the Action Month are to enhance the role, responsibility and effectiveness of coordination work of all levels and sectors from the central to local levels; thereby mobilizing the combined strength of the entire political system and the entire population to participate in drug prevention and control; towards building a drug-free community.

Along with that, strengthen the grasp of the situation, prevention, fight and suppression of drug-related crimes; improve the quality and effectiveness of drug rehabilitation work, management of drug addicts, illegal drug users and post-rehabilitation management...

The implementation of the Action Month for drug prevention and control must be carried out synchronously, ensuring practical effectiveness, economy, and suitability to the actual situation.

The Ministry of Public Security launched a high-profile campaign to attack and suppress drug-related crimes nationwide; developed a plan to combat and prevent drug-related crimes on aviation, postal, and express delivery routes...

The Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Finance directed functional forces to closely and promptly coordinate with the police force to combat and destroy drug crime rings and organizations on land borders, at sea, at border gates, in aviation, at international post and express delivery.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to speed up the review and make a comprehensive list of drug rehabilitation facilities that need investment in repair, upgrading, and new construction to meet the requirements of drug rehabilitation work...

People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities strengthen drug prevention and control propaganda activities to each neighborhood, household and directly in residential communities, especially in key areas and locations with high concentrations of workers, industrial parks, export processing zones, large urban construction projects, high-risk groups, youth, teenagers, students, etc. Organize the replication of pilot models in drug prevention and control at grassroots levels...
