Establishing a working group on the peak of the fight to prevent and repel smuggling and counterfeit goods crimes

(Chinhphu.vn) - Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son has just signed Decision No. 950/QD-TTg dated May 17, 2025 establishing the Prime Minister's Working Group on the peak of the fight to prevent and repel crimes of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods (Working Group).

According to the Decision, the Head of the Working Group is Comrade Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister - Head of the National Steering Committee 389.

The Deputy Heads of the Working Group are members of the National Steering Committee 389, including: Comrade Vo Minh Luong, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Lam, Deputy Minister of Public Security ; Comrade Nguyen Duc Chi, Deputy Minister of Finance; Comrade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.

The members of the Working Group are members of the National Steering Committee 389, including: Do Xuan Tuyen, Deputy Minister of Health; Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment; Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Bui Hoang Phuong, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology; Do Thanh Hai, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television; Ngo Minh Hien, Deputy General Director of Voice of Vietnam ; Nguyen Thi Su, Deputy General Director of Vietnam News Agency; Le Thanh Hai, Chief of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389.

Tasks and powers of the Working Group

The working group is responsible for directing, inspecting, and urging ministries, branches, localities, and functional forces in deploying and implementing Official Dispatch No. 65/CD-TTg dated May 15, 2025 of the Prime Minister on launching a peak period against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and goods infringing intellectual property rights (hereinafter referred to as the Official Dispatch); instructions of the Government, the Prime Minister, and the National Steering Committee 389 in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods.

Directing the inspection and recommending the handling of organizations and individuals who lack a sense of responsibility, are negative, lax in management, assist in smuggling, trade fraud, production and trade of counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights.

Request relevant ministries, branches, localities and functional forces to provide information on the situation and results of fighting smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the area and management field; and documents on violations when necessary.

Conduct a summary and evaluation of the implementation of the Official Dispatch; propose to the Prime Minister directions and solutions to resolve important, inter-sectoral issues to improve the effectiveness of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; report to the Prime Minister the results.

Principles and working regime of the Working Group

The Working Group is responsible to the Prime Minister for the implementation of the tasks specified in this Decision; works in a collective manner, promoting the personal responsibility of the head; members perform tasks in a part-time manner, are responsible for assigned tasks; are responsible for reporting to the Prime Minister on the working situation of the Working Group, and reporting ad hoc at the request of the Prime Minister.

The Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 is the standing body of the Working Group; uses its apparatus to perform the tasks of assisting the Working Group; prepares documents, reports and drafts of conclusions of the Working Group's meetings; summarizes and reports on the general activities of the Working Group and performs a number of other tasks assigned by the Head of the Working Group.
