Youth promote the spirit of initiative, creativity, realizing aspirations, ambitions and ideals

NDO - On the evening of March 23, in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the 2024 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award Ceremony directed by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, co-organized by the Vietnam Young Talent Support Fund, Tien Phong Newspaper, and Vietnam Television. Also attending were representatives of leaders of ministries, departments, branches, and central agencies.

The Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award is a noble award presented by the Central Youth Union, to honor outstanding young people under 35 years old, with outstanding achievements in many fields: Study, Scientific Research - Creativity, Labor and Production, Business - Startup, National Defense, Security and Order, Sports, Social Activities, Culture and Arts, and State Administrative Management.

In 2024, the Standing Committee of the Award received 159 nominations from 55 units nationwide; The Award Council went through two rounds of online selection and voting to find 10 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces and 8 Promising Young Vietnamese Faces. The 2024 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award Ceremony honors outstanding examples, spreads positive values, inspires and arouses the desire to contribute in the young generation of Vietnam. The Award is of great significance in building the image of a young generation with courage, intelligence and pioneering spirit for the development of the country. The Award is presented annually on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26).

Each honored individual brings a powerful inspirational story; representing the transformation of the young generation of Vietnam in the era of integration and innovation. They not only overcome their own limits to create and contribute to the community and the country, but also take on management positions, passing on knowledge - technology and experience to the next generation of young people...

Over the past 29 years, the Award has honored 290 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces and 285 Promising Young Vietnamese Faces in various fields. After being honored, the young faces continue to strive, contribute, and mature, making more positive contributions to their units, communities, and the country. Many young faces have become prestigious leaders in the political system, successful businessmen, and exemplary citizens...

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed that in the exciting, joyful and vibrant atmosphere of Youth Month, we are very happy to attend the 2024 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award Ceremony; these are truly the radiant faces of our country's outstanding young talents in all fields and represent Vietnamese Youth - "the future owners of the country", with the mission of being the shock force, the pioneering force and the spirit of "Vietnamese Youth is proud and firmly believes in the Party" to lead the country firmly into a new era - an era of strong, civilized and prosperous development of the Vietnamese people.

The Prime Minister stated that more than five centuries ago, the famous scholar Than Nhan Trung affirmed that "Talents are the vital energy of the nation". In the glorious history of thousands of years of building and defending the country of our people, every period has marked the great contributions of talented people, many of whom have nurtured their minds, trained their wills, and built great ambitions since they were young. From the time of the Hung Kings who founded the country, to the heroic history of Saint Giong, Hai Ba Trung, Ba Trieu, Ly Thuong Kiet, Tran Hung Dao, Tran Quoc Toan, Nguyen Trai, Le Loi, Quang Trung, to the Ho Chi Minh era, in the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party, young people have always been the vanguard force, taking the lead, not afraid of difficulties, hardships, sacrifices, ready to contribute their talents and intelligence, for the independence, freedom and eternal development of the nation, for the happiness and prosperity of the people.

President Ho Chi Minh always put his full trust in the youth. He affirmed that “Youth are the future masters of the country”. With that spirit, our Party and State always attach special importance to the role of the youth and have many policies, creating favorable conditions, encouraging the youth, young talents to be ready to pioneer in contributing to the cause of building, developing the country and protecting the beloved Fatherland.

The Prime Minister acknowledged and highly appreciated the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for its continuous efforts in concretizing the Party and State's policies on youth development, discovering and nurturing young talents, and training high-quality human resources for our country.

In particular, the "Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces" Award is an initiative with high spreading impact, of special significance, a noble reward of the Central Youth Union with the purpose of: Honoring typical young people with outstanding achievements in building and defending the Fatherland; Creating motivation to develop young talents and promoting emulation movements in studying, training, scientific research, labor, creativity... among young people and teenagers; consolidating and developing the Youth Union, Association, Team...; Attracting the attention of all levels, sectors and the whole society to the cause of education, nurturing and honoring the young generation of the country.

Over the past 29 years of the Award, nearly 580 outstanding and promising young Vietnamese faces honored are all shining examples and have had exceptionally outstanding achievements, outstanding contributions in various fields for the country, leaving a strong mark of Vietnamese intelligence and talent, adding to the glorious history of the nation's culture and making their names on the world map.

The Prime Minister was very pleased to know that this year's Award with 10 outstanding young Vietnamese faces and 8 promising young Vietnamese faces continues to have a wide and strong influence, creating prestige in the community, honoring young people with outstanding achievements in areas of social life such as: study, production, scientific research, creativity, culture and arts, physical education, sports, national security and defense, volunteering for the community.

We are deeply moved by the images of two Vietnamese students Nguyen Huu Tien Hung and Than The Cong bringing home to the country prestigious international Olympic gold medals; two young scientists Pham Huy Hieu and Nguyen Viet Huong have valuable research, inventions and innovations; Senior Lieutenant Hoang Khac Hieu has contributed many technical solutions and practical application initiatives; Captain Nguyen Hoang Hai Quang has achieved excellent results in training and combat readiness; Captain Tran Vinh Chien bravely participated in investigating and cracking down on many major drug cases; athlete Trinh Thu Vinh brought home gold medals at the Asian and Southeast Asian Shooting Championships; young artist Nguyen Huynh Son won the "All-round Talent" and "Most Favorite Talent" awards at the "Brother Overcoming Thousands of Challenges" program; young artist Phung Quang Trung has restored thousands of photos and portraits of heroic martyrs every year; Along with the 8 promising young Vietnamese faces honored at today's ceremony are representatives of many other outstanding young people from all over our beloved Vietnam.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Prime Minister warmly commended and congratulated the outstanding young people who were awarded the prestigious Prize at today's solemn ceremony and all young Vietnamese people - those who are striving day and night, overcoming difficulties to rise up with compatriots and soldiers nationwide, with a high sense of responsibility, iron will, and strong determination, through practical and specific actions and deeds, contributing to the construction, development of the country and the protection of the Fatherland, for the happiness, prosperity and peaceful life of our people.

The Prime Minister stated that 2025 is of special importance: It is the year of many important events of the country; it is the year of focusing on arranging the organizational apparatus, organizing Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress; it is the year of promoting the development of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation according to Resolution 57 of the Politburo; it is the year of "accelerating, breaking through, reaching the finish line", striving to achieve an economic growth rate of 8% or more to successfully implement the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2021-2025 according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; is the year to "create momentum, create force, create momentum" for double-digit growth in the 2026-2030 period and the following period, contributing to the successful implementation of the two 100-year strategic goals (striving to become a developing country with modern industry and high middle income by 2030; and a developed country with high income by 2045).

In the context of the country facing a historical moment where it must make historic decisions and have historic people to prepare to enter a new era, what should Vietnamese youth do?

Under the glorious flag of the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam and the heroic history of thousands of years of civilization of the nation, together with compatriots and soldiers nationwide, Vietnamese youth must strive with all their might; once determined, then be even more determined; once made an effort, then make an even greater effort; once acted decisively, then act even more decisively; work with focus and key points, complete each task, and make each task a success; must have the mindset of "turning nothing into something, turning difficult into easy, turning the impossible into possible, nothing is impossible"; focus on performing tasks in the spirit of "6 clear": clear people, clear work, clear responsibility, clear authority, clear time, clear results, contributing with the whole country to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, for the cause of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization.

Our Party, State and people have complete trust and great expectations for the contribution of the young generation, of the Vietnamese Youth of the new era in this glorious cause; as General Secretary To Lam said: "The Party and State always place deep trust in the youth force, always put the youth at the center of many major issues of the country; consider the youth as the key factor in shaping and developing the future of the country; consider the growth of the youth as the success of the Party, the victory of the revolutionary cause, the longevity of the nation".

With that spirit, the Prime Minister hopes that outstanding young Vietnamese faces in particular, and Vietnamese youth in general, will continue to promote the spirit of initiative, creativity, passion, and dedication of youth, dare to think, dare to do, dare to commit, dare to overcome their own limits, constantly strive to rise up, realize their aspirations, dreams, ambitions, and ideals; and well implement the teachings of beloved Uncle Ho: "Nothing is difficult - Only fear of not being steadfast - Digging mountains and filling seas - With determination, it will be done". The Prime Minister suggested that the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Union launch practical, effective emulation movements with profound humanity and have specific programs, plans, tasks, and solutions to further promote the role, contributions, and dedication of youth in all fields; focusing on the following "Three pioneers" and "Six focuses":

The “Three Pioneers” include:

First, be a pioneer in innovative thinking and strategic vision. Vietnamese youth must think far and wide; think deeply and do big things; value time, intelligence and decisiveness, be timely with unlimited creativity and dedication.

Second, pioneering in the development of science and technology, innovation and national digital transformation. Vietnamese youth must dare to confront and engage in new fields of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, creating breakthrough projects and products, promoting labor productivity, creating businesses with outstanding growth potential, Vietnam's "Unicorn Startups", contributing to the country's acceleration, breakthrough, rapid and sustainable development.

Third, pioneering in nationalizing human civilization in our country and internationalizing advanced culture, imbued with Vietnamese national identity, to the world. Vietnamese youth must constantly make breakthroughs, create new, unique cultural products, imbued with national cultural identity; at the same time, select and absorb cultural quintessence recognized by humanity, contributing to promoting the strong development of cultural industry, entertainment industry, creating new spiritual values ​​of regional and world stature and constantly enhancing the cultural enjoyment value of our people.

The “six focuses” include:

Firstly, the focus is on implementing assigned political tasks. Youth is a great social force, proactive, creative, leading in the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland. The Prime Minister suggested that the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union should continue to innovate the content and methods of operation, promptly grasp the legitimate needs and aspirations of youth, especially promoting the role and contribution of youth in implementing three strategic breakthroughs in institutions, human resources, strategic infrastructure and promoting the cause of industrialization, modernization and international integration.

Second, focus on restructuring the apparatus. The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union must urgently restructure the apparatus, contributing to building a streamlined, strong, efficient, effective, and efficient political system; promoting administrative reform, especially administrative procedures, reducing inconvenience, harassment, and compliance costs for people and businesses.

Third, focus on promoting growth. Vietnamese youth need to further promote their youth, intelligence, enthusiasm, creativity, take the lead in labor, production, and business in all fields, all areas, especially remote, border, and island areas; actively participate in the program "Accompanying young people in starting a business" launched by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; constantly innovate ways of thinking, ways of doing, replicate good models, good practices, initiatives, improvements, and applications of science and technology, contributing to improving productivity, quality, efficiency, and competitiveness of the economy and promoting growth to achieve the set goals.

Fourth, the focus is on implementing social justice and progress, ensuring social security, and improving the spiritual and material life of the people. Vietnamese youth must continue to promote their exemplary role in concretizing the Party and State's policies and guidelines on social justice and progress, especially the right to life, the right to freedom, the right to pursue happiness, and ensuring social security and social welfare, especially equal access to education and health care in all regions of our country, reaching every community, every family and every person, especially in mountainous areas, remote areas, border areas and islands with the spirit of "leaving no one behind".

Fifth, focus on promoting international integration. Youth must further promote their pioneering role in implementing the policy of building an independent and self-reliant economy associated with promoting deep, substantive and effective international integration; focus on learning foreign languages, becoming digital citizens, global citizens; contribute to mobilizing and effectively using external resources in terms of capital, science and technology, business management skills, national governance, high-quality human resources, exploring and promoting markets for Vietnamese branded products to participate in regional and global value chains.

Sixth, the focus is on strengthening national defense and security, ensuring social order and safety. Vietnamese youth must always be ready to contribute and sacrifice for the country, firmly protect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Fatherland; focus on research, development and transfer of advanced technology to serve the building of a strong, compact and elite armed force, advancing straight to modernity; ensure political security and social order and safety; contribute to building an orderly, safe and civilized society, for the happy and peaceful life of the people.

On the occasion of this solemn ceremony, the Prime Minister requested all levels, sectors, localities and the whole society to continue to pay attention, create favorable conditions, and pay attention to building the best mechanisms and policies for Vietnamese youth to develop comprehensively and contribute to the country, with the spirit of the whole country sharing and accompanying the young generation, investing in the young generation, investing in talented young people is investing in sustainable development, investing in the future of our country to be rich, strong and prosperous.

The Prime Minister suggested that every young person, regardless of field or location, must have ambitions, dreams, aspirations, passion, enthusiasm, dare to commit, dare to contribute, dare to surpass themselves; constantly strive, bravely face all difficulties and challenges, uphold the spirit of self-reliance, self-improvement, innovation, especially the bravery, intelligence and strong vitality of Vietnamese Youth, contribute and devote intelligence, strength and enthusiasm to the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

The Prime Minister pointed out that during his lifetime, beloved President Ho Chi Minh once advised: “A year begins in spring. A life begins in youth. Youth is the spring of society” and “Must not be afraid of hardship, not afraid of difficulties, wherever we do things, we need youth, wherever there is difficulty, there is youth”.

We hope and believe that today's young generation of Vietnam will promote the spirit of patriotism, solidarity, unity, and unanimity, be the vanguard force, the reliable reserve force, and the Party's trust, always carrying within themselves the will, aspiration, and enthusiasm of youth "Pure heart - Bright mind - Great ambition", be the vanguard force leading the whole country in striving to realize the aspiration to develop a rich, civilized, prosperous country, and for the people to have a prosperous and happy life in the new era - the era of national growth.
